Hungry!! Hi, I have a 1 year old toy Yorkie. She is 3.2 pounds and I believe that is as big as she's going to get :0) My question is.....she's always hungry! She would eat all day long if I let her. She is given breakfast and dinner and twice during the day she's given 2 organic treats. When shes outside she's eating grass non-stop and when she's inside she's trying to steal food from our other dog! She'll actually scarf her food up so that she can run over to his bowl and wait for him to drop something ha! ha!!!! :0) Is it normal for toy Yorkies to be soooo hungry all the time? I've had other dogs and they aren't scavengers like she is. I don't have a problem with it, I just wonder if there's anything wrong with her even though you can tell she's a very happy and healthy doggy. Thanks for any advise you can give. Orlynn |
Exactly what are you feeding her and how much? If she's getting enough to eat she shouldn't be so hungry. I do know that tape worms can cause a dog to eat all the time and still be hungry. |
She gets a handful of Nutro Chicken Meal, rice and oatmeal formula with 1 teaspoon of Ultra Holistic nutrition chicken & salmon in gravy mixed together morning and night. Mid morning and mid afternoon she's given 4 whole grain Natural Choice Crunchy treats. Shes just had all her shots and a complete physical and everything is fine. I just didn't know if its just Yorkie behavior because shes so little that she thinks she has to fight for everything :0) Thank you very much for responding to my questions :0) |
I was thinking it could be worms too!! But Brooke is 3.5 lbs and she loves to eat too!! She doesn't have worms but looks around the floor for crumbs too!! She might just like to eat!! |
She could also be buring off all the calories she eats fast though. A busy, energetic little dog can only eat so much at once, then be hungry faster again. :animal-pa I do not know, just a guess :aimeeyork |
