Limping??? Okay, I'm not sure if this is going to make much sense.... I was playing with Baby, throwing her toys and she was running around like crazy. Well all the sudden she stopped and came and sat next to me and kind of fell backwards...and so I put her on the floor and she stumbled backwards and sat down. So I automatically thought she had gone hypoglycemic (sp).....and picked her up. Well after I realized that wasn't the case I put her back down and she was pretty much not bending one of her back legs. So I had her sit and she stretched the one leg out instead of bending it under her like normal. So I watched her some more and she was not really using that leg, and not bending it while she was walking. So of course I am worried. She seems to not be in any pain, but I just love her and don't want her to hurt at all. Anyone have any ideas of what this could be?? Sorry this is so long. I am a worry freak! |
is it tender to the touch???? can you move the joint freely without any pain from her???? is it possible to get cramps????? |
I am so sorry and hope she is okay. I havent experienced anything like this so I dont have any advice. At least she is not hurt. Hopefull it will be nothing at all. Good luck :) |
She is just sleeping now...my boyfriend says she is fine. We put her on his stomach and he said that she was putting equal weight on all of her legs, but I could see a difference. SHe did not mind me touching it. I pulled it and stretched it. I also felt to make sure both legs felt the same, which they did. Maybe i am jsut overreacting. |
she could have pulled a muscel while she was running abck and forth to get toys....... i know toby has doen this before on his more "rambunctious" days..... keep an eye on it, if you are still worried on monday maybe call a vet, or you could try putting a cold pack on it  |
Well this morning she is still kind of babying it. Also, she had an accident the other day. When was laying under the blankets and my boyfriend went to get on the bed and he landed on her....she yelped...but then seemed fine. So I called my mom, being the worry wart that I am...(not to mention she always makes me feel better) and she said maybe he landed on her leg and it's sore now from running around yesterday. So I am hoping she will start feeling better soon. Thanks for the advice Orinskye and Shana! |
Toy breeds have a very tiny groove for the knee to pivot. Sometimes the knee will pop out of place. It usually pops back in on it's own. When the knee pops out on a regular basis, then surgery can repair it. The vet will make the groove in the joint deeper, so the knee stays in place. |
