Help Oh my god!!!! Today was my first visit to the vet and gracie is 3 pounds  she is only 9 weeks old!!!!! Is this normal? What should I do?????? :( |
What did the vet say about it? Did he seem to think the dog was at a healthy weight for her size? |
Does she get a lot of exercise daily? Did the breeder say she would be a certain size at all? They do grow in spurts. |
Umm..is that a good or bad thing? |
Schatzie was the runt of her litter. I was told by her breeder that her weight would be oh about 4 pounds. Yeah right, she now weighs over 7 pounds and is 8 months old. Don't worry so much about striving for that small little purse baby. Schatzie is lean and small enough for a big purse and is big enough to keep her physically out of trouble if need be around the house. Just enjoy her, keep her healthy and what she ends up weighing will be what she is destined to weigh. Love your baby!! |
My Gidget weighed 3lbs at 3 months. She is about 4 lbs now. I don't think that's abnormal. She had an xray on her leg a few weeks ago and the vet said she still has opening in her growth plates but figured by 5-6 months she'd be done gowing. This is the time where there is the most growth. |
gidgetsmom..... my toby is on teh same growth pattern... he was 3 lbs at 12 weeks and 4 lbs and 16 weeks........ |
Hi Marie :-) Sounds like you have a very healthy puppy! I wouldn't worry about her plumpness so much, she may be conserving calories for a growth spirt. Tinkie is smaller because she has a small frame but she has very long legs. I too was under the impression that she was to be a "tea cup" size dog. But, that was when I was ignorant...ha ha! There really is no way to gage how big they are going to be. Breeders may take an educated guess by looking at the blood line/size of both parents, but still it is just a good guess. Anyway, bigger yorkies have all the fashion accessories geared towards them. You can find all kinds of things like purses, clothes etc. to fit the larger yorkies! Anyway, good luck with your baby and enjoy :-) Annie and Tinkie |
