when do puppies stop growing??? I have the opportunity of buying a 6 months old puppy that currently weights 5.5 pounds, but I afraid that she will get huge since she is already almost 6 pounds. I don't know what to do? Please give advise. Lola |
it depends on a lot of things.. How big are the parents and grand parents? have they had past litters from these parents? Hoe big have past litters got? most stop growing around 6 months but they can continue to grow to up to 2 years. Hope that helps a little. |
I think health and personality should be the major factor in choosing a puppy. ;) |
Roxie has only put on about 4 ounces since she was 6 months old and is now 8 months old. I would try and find out the parents size as a guide. |
A usual rule of thumb is that they are their adult size (structure) at 6 months and then they fill out after that ALTHOUGH that is not always the case of course....it really depends their lines too. |
Baxter weights 5 lbs at 5 months. His mom was 7 lbs and his dad 5 lbs. I don't know how much he's going to be but either way he is precious. |
I was wondering this too! Our little guy is 14 weeks and over 4 pounds!!! His mom and dad were both around 5-7. We are afraid he will get huge! |
Thank you ladies for your response. I just wanted to get an idea because I have a weight restriction in my apartment. I am still getting her but just wanted to get opinions. thanks. |
See thats my problem too. I have two puppies and Impreza is bigger then Legacy right now. Their mother weighs like 8-10lbs and the father was small. Legacy is darker like the father and Impreza is bigger like her mom. So I have no idea how much they will grow. |
