Clicking Leg Hello, My 2 year old yorkie has a clicking rear leg. I hear it click when I pick her up, and sometimes when she sits down. It causes her no pain-any ideas??? louise |
The most common problem with Yorkies' rear legs is luxating patella. That's when the kneecap slips out of its track. Luxating patellas are classified as grades 1 thru 4. Grades 1 & 2 don't usually require surgery but the more serious cases do. I would have a vet check it out. In the meantime, you should limit her jumping up and down from couches, beds, etc. as that will aggravate the condition. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :) |

Clicking Leg Thank-you so much for your replies. I was so worried about it that I took her to the vet today. Luckily the clicking seems to be coming from lower down her leg-so its not the knee cap clicking out and in-its seems she is double jointed! The vet said as long as she doesn't hold it up or seem in pain then there is no need to worry. The vet gave me some vitamins and minerals to give her as a suppliment as she has a fresh food diet (no tinned meat or dry kibble) and they will top her up on everything.:) |
I'm a little concerned about Pixie too..sometimes when i pick her up her front legs crack..seems to be coming from the top of her front legs...not her back legs...next time i go to see the vet i'm going to ask him to check it out...she doesn't seem in pain at all though. |
I hope its nothing but I have never heard of that being one of the signs of luxating patellas:confused:.I can say both my knees have been doing this for years and people around me can hear it when I walkbut I have yet to experience pain, nothing in the xrays maybe some suppliments will help. |
