question about dry dog food? I'm so confused what to feed my pets after reading this website Dog Food Reviews - Dry Dog Foods - Powered by ReviewPost I feed Pinnacle trout & sweet potato now yet according to this site, it gets only 3 stars so I'm thinking to switch to Chicken Soup. Do you guys think this site is reasonable and believeable? |
I am not familiar with the food you are useing, I used that site to choose Milo's food, we came up with Merricks. Good luck with your search I am sure a lot more will help you with your qustion |
after much research and reading here,, we've decided on Merrick, though I do belive Chicken Soup is a premium food too. there are many "food decision" threads here,,just do a search, you'll find lots of opinions there. Have a Great Day!:) |
When I got my yorkie I asked the vet what the best food to feed was and he said Science Diet (he sells it). We took training at Pet Smart and I asked the trainer what the best food. She said she's breed beagles for 20 years and she recommends Authority. I switched to Authority but I'm not sure that is such a great dog food. I haven't heard anyone on this site recommend it. I hate to keep switching their food. I don't know what to feed anymore. |
I switched to Canidae after joining YT. It is a 5-star dog food. There have been posts that have recommended not using 6-star dog food because it is too high in protein for Yorkies. My Pommie can not have corn, wheat, or eggs, and Canidae All Life Styles fits the bill. I switched my four furbabies over to Canidae over a 3 week period. I kept watching Snowboy's stools because he was my problem. Any faster and I would have had a mess on my hands. Good luck choosing a good dog food brand. |
Did lots of research here and there, and even the vet said that Merrick is really good dog food. Wet or dry. But now I cook for Rocky, and he loves it. |
Thanks for the info. Who carries Canidae and Merrick? |
Petland has them for sure, I used to buy it there. |
I agree that there are more advantages of dry food feeding than disadvatages.I keep on feeding my puppy with Canidae. That brand was chosen by the breeder and I have never had any problems with puppy stool as well as her apetite. You do not have problems with thoughts of what you have to cook for puppy today spoiling him/her more and more everytime when you try something new. You do not have to balance vitamines as home cooked stuff has lack of them.Dry food has all vitamines and elements required. I agree that some homecooked treats can be given as well (small amount). You do not have to clean your babies teeth at the vets so frequently as dry food mantains their teeth buildup. Whatever anybody says dry food has more pluses than any other version of foods. If you do not believe in that,go to Yorkie show and talk to any show breeder. I think most of them feed their champions mostly with dry food diet. It provides better coat, skin , bones and health for dogs. The only thing that is difficult to choose the right brand. My Tina is a champion blooded puppy and she eats Canidae All Life Stages. Well, sometimes I spoil her with a piece of beet, carrot or some Wellness treat. But that is quite okay. She just loves treats as any dogs. |
