funky smell Hey guys wats up with this? I notice that wen I go to kiss my baby theres a funky smell on the area above her nose. I'm pretty sure its coming from the tears in her eyes. Wenever I c tears I try to sry them off w my finger but if I was to smell my finger its really stinks. She does happen to tear quote often especially wen we go outside. We have a vet app next week so I'm goin to ask. In the mean time does anyone know what thats all about? She doesn't seem to have anything wrong w her eyes in terms of crazy redness or anything? Any insight wud really help cuz I don't want my babys upper jose part smelly. Thanxxx |

my vet told me Moses has seasonal allergies (like me!) which might cause his tearing and to wash his face daily and make sure i use a mild baby detergent on his blankets & beds (like Dreft). he eats Innova and that cleared up the stains a bit but they never left so I don't think it's really his food. I am willing to try the Angel Eyes to see if that will help. in the meantime i wash his face with a warm washcloth and comb out the area with a tiny flea comb. I really hate tear stains!!! i feel sorry for the babies when they get these:( |
i wash her face but the smell goesnt go completely away. i noticed that the best thing to do is to keep up to date with her grooming so that hair isn't long. that causes the boogies to hide n get hard. wen they r short i spot them right away and clean them up. |

My Daisy gets the boogies too. I think they are caused from allergies and probably from getting dust in their eyes. (which could also be an allergen) I comb and wash Daisy's facial hair every morning when I do my girl's grooming. Otherwise, she gets BIG BOOGIES! |
Eye infection :). Whenever Marcel's eyes get a little bit stinky - sure enough, he has conjunctivitis. That would really be my guess. Of course, any time there is a smelly eye area, you absolutely want to go the vet bc the vet will want to rule out anything else w/ the eye (scratch on the cornea), but it is probably a mild infection. You'll probably have to do give eye ointment for 10 days. :) |
Ellie had horribly smelling tears a few months ago. The vet looked and really had no idea what was going on, probably because it didn't smell that bad by the time of her appt  and she didn't have an infection. Anyway, it has happened to Ellie after antibiotic use which makes me think of yeast issues in her case at least. If it gets bad again the vet wants to see her. So, it could be so many different things. I would have the vet check for infection though. |
