Gain weight... I am reading all these posts on how to lose weight on our furbabies.. My problem is my boys are skinny.. I don't like feeling their bones when I pet them.. Is there something I could make for them to add a little weight to them so they aren't so boney?... With Riddick being long like a Silky, and being thin he reminds my family of a weinner dog.. =( I'd love him to look a little heavier.. Any suggestions for me?.. Riddick and Mischa send doggie hugs and kisses to everyone that responds!!!:animal36:animal36 |
omg, i posted a post almost identical to this the other day.. i didn't get any responses, hopefully you will! My boy is super long and skinny too! |
When I first took Timmy to the vet the doctor said that having a dog that was thin was a healthy thing. And that in small dogs extra weight was a negative thing. But recently when I took him to the vet he weighed in a half pound lighter than before and they were concerned with him being under weight too! (probably from his skin infection) They suggested I put him Eukanuba food...and give him high calorie treats. So thats what im doing for my fella...might work for your babies too |
I won't feed Slade Eukanuba b/c its not a very high quality food. |
what food would you suggest. At this point I havent switched his food. |
I am trying to get some weight on Rainbow and my vet suggested giving her a couple of teaspoons of cottage cheese with her meals. So far it hasn't helped much. I also add some ceasars to her dry kibble. |
You ae supposed to be able to feel there ribs but not see them that is what my vet told me. One thing you can try is Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance food roll in a Kong. It is a high quality food, and since it is food rather than treat it will be like adding an extra meal, that the dog thinks is a treat. |
