Anal glands problem?? Brooklyn was groomed yesterday. Since then, he has been scooting. I didn't really think that much of it because I would've thought the groomer would have noticed if they would have been expressed and he always acts weird for a day or two after being groomed. I don't think he likes that wind can get on his backend. Most recently, he seems to be trying to lick his back end. His tail and back end hair is completely soaked. He hasn't be trying to lick nonstop- just now and then. Any suggestions? |
This happens with Franklin too. The vet told me that sometimes they still scoot because the area is irritated from the expressing. |

Thanks! |
Hmmm, that is odd to me. Poor little fella. I mean odd in the sense that - this shouldn't irritate him, if done properly. I don't get my guys expressed at all, ever. One, bc really - it should happen naturally with properly formed poos; and two, I don't think all groomers truly know how to do it properly (and, I don't bring my guys to the groomers anymore). If not done properly, they can actually injure the sac. If you have it on hand - you could put some hydrocortisone cream, diaper cream, or even antibiotic cream on the area to help w/ any inflammation and for soothing. You could even put a bit of aloe on the area. I do hope he feels better, how awful that must feel down there, ouch! You'll get him better though in no time! :) |

I think I have some antibiotic cream so I'll put some of that on there. He hasn't being messing with the area since I posted this area so, hopefully, that's a good thing. Thanks for your help! |
