questions about shots/vaccinations I went to the veterinarian a couple days ago and showed the doctor the contract the breeder gave me. It has three dates on it showing that Lucky got his three shots already but then the vet said "that's worth nothing". So.. just in case the breeder lied on the paper and just wrote random dates down, I told the vet to just give him his first set. Will the shots harm my dog? I called the breeder to confirm whether she gave the shots or not and she said she's definitely sure she did and she believes that the vet is just trying to take my money. I'm just worried about Lucky, whether the shots will make him sick or not (because it might be his second time getting them). Maybe I made a bad decision on letting the vet give Lucky his shots? |
Vets and those shots... Gosh...maybe someone here will know... When I got Sophie...she already had two sets of shots... My vet started her on her 3rd set then... and she will be 16 wks on Sunday..and she just got her last series and rabies yesterday.... Thats odd how your vet didn't want to believe the breeders record... |
You know what, that's just another case of trusting what people tell you. You either believe them or you don't. I don't know about extra shots..........a lot of times vets get accused of wanting to make money and who knows??? Maybe that could be true in some cases  Bottom line is, the babies need to be healthy and we do what it takes to keep them so. We have to have confidence in the people we deal with. |
I was in the same boat when I first got Bella, she had already had two sets of shots and they were really detailed in what the dates were and stuff. I went with my gut feeling and trusted them, so I just took Bella in to get her third set when it was time. I think you just got to follow your gut feeling on it. I mean, why do you think the breeder might lie to you? Now that you already have the dog, she doesn’t have any reason to lie to you, its not like it would deter you from buying the dog now, you already have him. I think you should not go in for more shots, just make sure you get the parvo and rabies when its time and follow the timeline of the breeder. You don’t want to over medicate him. That’s just my opinion. If you need a vet reccomendation, let me know. I LOVE my vet and I'm in the LA area. |
