Bananas, ok to give as treats?
 
I haven't fed any yet, wanted to check 1st. My boys had bananas in there cereal this morning and we had almost a full one left. So I sliced it up and froze the slices. Koda & Kammie like frozen treats so I thought this would be a good one. It was a nice yellow banana, no green and not turning brown.

Bella's dog food has slices of banana in it We feed the HONEST Kitchen Force.
She gets some cut up as a snack sometimes too.
I make sure they are ripe though!

Angel loves bananas, Bailey not so much.
Where do you buy Honest Kitchen?
I have looked for it around where I live, my vet says she has heard really good things about it.

We give banana slices as treats here too! :) My girls go crazy whenever anyone has a banana. LOL

Hoku and Pi'i love bananas!! Kalani chews it like he's chewing gum, I don't think he likes the texture - LOL!

I don't have a comment on bananas as treats... but about you freezing the banana. Freezing bananas causes them to ripe faster! I used to work at a smoothie store so we used frozen fruit... but bananas were never frozen! One day one of they newbies put the bananas in the freezer at closing... the next day they were black!!!

Epsilon, I never thought of that. Wonder why that is? After they froze I put them in a freezer bag. Hopefully they won't be black tomorrow, lol!

Bananas are great for treats!! Meeko loves them! Have you tried giving them apples yet? He loves apples, too!

I tried giving Epsilon and my schnauzer, Ally, some apples the other day. They wouldn't eat them! They just carried their little apple pieces around the house but wouldn't chew! We NEVER give them people food so it may have just been confusing for them, lol. I ended up throwing their little pieces aways because I didn't want apple rotting in my carpet :eek:

Nygee & Gizmo love bananas, but Gypsy doesn't...
The also love strawberries, seedless watermelon, peeled seedless grapes, and in season now, Leychee, I love Leychee's as well, too bad the season ends so soon!!

I have read to not give frozen things to dogs as can freeze up insides so was told never to give ice cubes in water or anything frozen.

There is a lady who sells it on ebay. Honest Kitchen is great. My babies love it and its healthy. Just go on ebay and do a search for honest kitchen.

Ice cubes in water are fine...dogs can eat ice if they want..by the time it gets to the stomach it is melted...same as with humans eating ice..
I gave mine grapes for decades, then read I shouldn't, so I stopped..just to be safe.

here is a fun and insteresting fact...i used to work at walmart a few years ago while i was in college...and do you know what the highest selling item is at walmart across the board? and all over the nation? Bananas!!! isnt that crazy?????

Walmart=interesting! Who would have thought they would be a top seller :)
K&K LOVE strawberries, along w/ apples! Any kind of veggie too!

BTW my bananas haven't gotten yucky yet being froze, they look the same as they did when I put them in, just frozen :)

Good reminder about the grapes. Now that fresh fruit is coming into season for a lot of us, we need to remind everyone about the good and the bad for our babies so nobody has an accident :)

Just be careful how much banana you give because it is binding!! I used to give it to mine when they had loose stools!!
