Stinky Gas....phew! Does anyone elses yorkie have stinky gas too? Chewie does...OMG...it mostly "escapes" when he's resting or sleeping. He's been eating Blue Buffalo Lamb Mix since we've had him for about a month and he loves it. I can only assume the gas is a product of the food. Is there anything I can give him along with the food that may help with this? It's really awful... I never knew my tiny dog would out fart my husband...LOL! |
Oh, my! Dog gas is the worst, lol! Well, if it were me - I'd get him off that food bc something isn't working for him, and he's probably pretty uncomfortable inside - just like humans are uncomfortable with gas. There is something irritating his system to be causing the gas, so it's probably best to try something else, which is rather a pain, I know. :) |
haha....yes Roscoe is only 11 weeks and he is on a mix of his Royal canine puppy dry/wet food.....and he unleashes some brutal gas |
Peanut cannot eat Lamb. It give him Gas and upset tummy.Once I stop the Lamb Dog Food he was fine. |
Gas, dogs, Lamb Lamb might not be a good choice for your pup. I am not a vet nor a nutritionist but because of two sick little ones over the past year, I have researched, read and learned much about caring for my dogs. Lamb is NOT something I would ever feed them. Years ago, I would have because THEN Lamb was NOT IN THE DOG FOOD as it is COMMONLY mixed into food today and back then, Lamb was the food of choice when trying to find a novel protein to feed dogs since they had never had it before. Now, every company and his brother is putting lamb into foods and this product is no longer as effective as it used to be. Anyway, your pup is not DIGESTING /assimilating properly the food you are giving him now so, if it were I, I would oh so slowly, change his diet, put him on a mild probiotic and digestive enzyme (do not be heavy handed..MORE IS NOT BETTER in this area) and see where this leads you with him. Contact me if you want a couple of suggestions on feeding or starting organic (vs. store bought commercial ones) supplements with your pup. I hope this helped you a little. Good luck, YorkieSue |

A couple of weeks ago, I was feeding Pao with Evangers canned chicken and beef and he farted sooooo much until hubby and I had to leave the room to breath! Now I homecook..no more farts. Something in the food is not agreeing to his tummy. |
To Bently's Mom re: extreme gassiness POTTER is right on target, as was I when I took the time to write you about the fact that SOMETHING he is eating but NOT DIGESTING WELL, is giving him gas. You seem to think it is sort of funny as evidenced by your 'clear the room out' response. I expected a little more from you if you were genuinely concerned. Doesn't sound like you are. At any rate, when you are serious about really exploring why he is having all of the UNnecessary gas, write to this forum. There are tons of us who can help you and many of us know what gas means aside from it sometimes being very funny to joke about. I understand why you think it is so funny (and it can be, I admit that) but down the road you might not think so if Bently's digestive process becomes compromised. Kimmiek, I like the Blue Buffalo food too, but the lamb/rice gives my Westie the toots (not my Yorkie, though--she is fine on it). I switched them to the Blue Buffalo Salmon and sweet potato. They both like it, and the problem is greatly reduced, but not entirely gone. It has the benefit of being high in omega fatty acids. Give it a try. |
Well, seems like the most popular idea is to get rid of the lamb. I'll try that first and see what happens. He really does love the Blue Buffalo food, so I'll just give him a different mix of that brand. I'll keep everyone updated...thanks for all of your input! |
I just wanted to add sometimes it is not the meat because I knew Pao did fine with homecooked chicken and beef but not with Evangers. I just got lazy and thought Evangers is just as good as homecooked but there is just no comparison with fresh cooked food. He did well on Evangers when we first started feeding him and he loves it and then it went downhill after that. It could be the vege in there that didn't suit his tummy or maybe they even put some chemicals in there (who knows right). It also made me think twice when they say the bones are soft due to a special cooking process. I cook and I cannot think of what special cooking process that can make the bones soft without the meat peeling off from the bones (slow cooking). |
Penny is a little gassy sometimes and she has stinky poop. (But it IS poop, so it's supposed to stink):eek: She is eating Taste of the Wild, Chicken Soup, both dry. And canned Puppy Plate. I tried raw as some of you know. Didn't work so well.(went thru alot of food) I am so afraid to change her now that she is eating well. But if being a little gassy is bad I will switch. I plan on trying raw again soon. I heard the Organic Chicken is a big hit. I sure hope she likes it this time.;) |
hi, I too am home cooking my little guys food. I use to do the same for my cocker. since Samurai is 3 months, is there ( if you know ) anything special i need to make sure that i put into his food? He seems to be really hungry and i feed him 3 times a day. i have been cooking chicken, sweet potatoes, green beans and squash. thanks Carol and Samurai |
