Ugh....a Tick Well I was petting Daisy and on her ear I felt a bump...yuck it was a tick. Now at first I was alittle mad because they get Revolution every month. Well we got the tick and head off of her. The tick was not inbedded in her ear, but when we pulled it off it pulled her hair off. We got the tick off, burned it and then I put peroxide on her ear where it was. I cant even see where the tick was now but I'm going to keep an eye on it. She's just milking the attention now. Do you think I should call Revolution? I used Frontline Plus and heartguard for Daisy but when I got Jersey (she's only 3lbs) she wouldnt take the Heartguard, so my vet recommened the Revolution. I dont know what to do. I believe it came from my yard because just last week, my fiance was outside cutting the grass and he had a tick on his chest and pant leg. I'm now thinking of getting a pet friendly yard spray to kill them. |
My baby got a tick on him the other day, he was laying on the sidewalk sorta close to the grass. I've never seen a tick before till then, I thought it was dirt till I touched it with my finger and it started moving. I got some tweezers and pulled it off also pulling some hair in the process. I called my vet right away and they just told me to wash the area with anti bacterial soap and keep an eye on him. If the area turns red, gets swollen etc, change in his behavior get him to the vet a.s.a.p for some antibiotics. He ended up being ok, but I was ready to rush him to the vet with the slightest change |
Andy and I were going to bed about month ago and I was giving his goodnight rub down he gets every night and I glance down at him saw something on his face. There was a HUGE tick on it. I of course ran to get the tweezers and needle and lighter. Uck I was so grossed out! :( He was fine afterwards and hasnt had one since but now during his nightly rubdowns he completly checked for any and all ticks! Eck!:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown |
We were having a heck of a time with them here. I tossed all the flea and tick meds as NONE of them stopped the ticks at all. We spread this in the yard and haven't had a prob since. We will do it two more times this season just to make sure. |
These products (revolution, frontline, etc....) DO NOT REPEL ticks, the ticks have to bit them and then they die and fall off :( - that's all..... |

It's like they've become immune to the meds. I even switched out brands and we were still pulling them off the dogs and the cats. Honestly, the DE worked so well we'll be sticking with that. |
It couldnt have been on her for more than hr. It didnt get a chance to chow down but YUCK. I felt so bad for her I cried when he was getting it off her. So I called the Vet and the girl who picked up the phone said that Revolution doesnt protect against ticks!! What :eek:you people are the ones who told me to use it. I switched from using HeartGuard & Frontline Plus, because my little one is only 3lbs and I dont feel comfortable giving a 3lber the same does as a 22lber. I dont know what to do. She wouldnt eat the HeartGuard before when I tried it. I'm going to check out that lawn stuff (when I get home). |

Our Bichon got lymes disease last year - it was horrible...she was so sick. I LOVE this time of the year but could really do without the ticks and mosquitoes! :) |
If the tick wasn't inbedded in his skin yet then the Revolution wouldn't have worked yet. The tick has to bite and inbed in able to get it to die, just like a flea. Your dog can still get fleas on them, but once they bite, they die. That is how I understood the way Revolution worked, our Daisy is on it too. We live in Ky and this year is already bad with ticks. I have pulled 2 out of my scalp, 2 out of my daughter's scalp, 1 off of each of my 2 son's and not to mention the 20 or so that we have gotten off my husband's clothing and skin after hunting. |
