Many vets spay and neuter earlier now...as early as 8 weeks of age. Most here start at 12-16 weeks of age. Just depends on the vet. Some people feel safer if the dog is over 2lbs, but the truth is that any size of dog can be anaesthetized...you just have to find a vet familiar with tiny dogs and use the right kind of amount of anaesthesia. Be sure to have a full blood panel done before as well to make sure your dog is 100% healthy before he has his surgery. |
