i received an email today with info on febreze......here it is...has anyone ever heard of this?

Febreze dangerous to pets

There have been multiple instances of dogs and birds who have died or become very ill after exposed to Febreze, a deodorizer/air freshener. Febreze contains zinc chloride, which is very dangerous for animals.

Please do not use febreze anywhere near you pets> if you have used it near your pets or on their bedding clean the bedding area thoroughly to remove the febreze and move the animals away from the area.

Please pass this information onto other pet owners caretakers, before more animals are injured or killed, and find a safer method of odor control.

Febreze this product is marketed as something that removes odors without covering that removes odors without covering them up. However there is a strong smell to it, but worse that that febreze contains szinc chloride, many birds have already been killed after this product was used in any proximity to them whatsoever, and some dogs have also died. Other dogs have become ill without dying. This product is marketed as a safe around animals ad people have sprayed their dogs bedding to remove the doggy smell only to discover that later on that their dog became deathly ill from it. There is one dog who lost most of her hair after being accidentally sprayed with some febreze though this particular incident also had a second factor involved (diet change) the febreze bottle, as of December 1998 has a picture on the back of a dog, which leads some people to believe it is safe to use.

OMG really?!!!! I have to do some in depth research about this one.... My Baci is always sneezing whenever I spray anytype of room freshener. Thanks for the info

I dont think Febreze is toxic to our pets...It might just be one of those internet hoaxes...

Recent E-mail from England regarding Febreze:

Thanks for the warning , my son uses everytime Gucci has an accident he cleans it up and then sprays frebreeze all over the place. Lucily nothing ever happen . I wil tell him not to do it anymore

OMG that sucks it even shows it on the commercial...GOOD FOR PET ODORS...well yeah its good it obviously kills the pet so there is no more odor....BAD FERBREEZE BAD

So the label in the back is misleading(?)... That's bad. I just hope the passed email is a hoax because I've been using febreze since it first came out. But for a precaution I'm staying away from that. I'll just open all the windows to let fresh air circulate in the house.

i have never used febreez myself, i was turned onto this little mixture by someone on teh forum........ it is the downy fabric softner and water, (i got the lilac kind...... but they have so many these days) and it smells soooooooooooooo good

Thanks for that article - I use Febreze all the time and have had no problems with my cat or dog either.

This sounds like the one that goes around about those wet swiffer things. Probably not true either because I know people with multi pets that use those too.

cause i use it all the time.. well i have been for the past 6 months.. none of my kiddies sick yet.. well i hope never!

I get this email a few times a year and have forward it. Its not true its safe to use I have 2 birds and there still alive and well. But with everything else use it with care I don't think it a good idea to spray your dog with it. lol
