biting paws and coat Help! I just got Mojo last week, and have recently noticed that he is biting his back paws and body.. its not a lot.. mostly when he's lying in my lap before he goes to sleep. IS this normal? Or should i get him checked out? I hope he doesnt have ticks.. he has never really been outside so i dont know where he would have picked those up from! |
My Pommie, Snowboy, would bite his paws and skin before I found out he was allergic to wheat, corn, and eggs. He still has some problems so my next move will be to take him off of chicken if it continues or gets worse. You said Mojo only bites himself when you hold him? If that's the case maybe someone else with more knowledge will answer your question. Good luck!!! |
Jeter did this too when I first got him, his vet checked him out and said he did not see fleas , he suggested that we change his food that sis not have wheat in it and change his shampoo and only bath him every other week. I went with Chicken Soup for the Puppy lover's soul, and also added canned Merrick Puppy plate to it. I also changed his puppy shampoo to one that had oatmeal in it and I stopped bathing him 2 times a week to every other week, Well this seemed to do the trick for us almost overnight he stopped biting his hair on his legs. I hope you find the cause to his discomfort! |
Kash bites his legs sometimes too... i was feeding him dry canidae... but i'm slowly switching over to dry merricks (granda's chicken pot pie)... i also feed him merricks canned foods. if it continues maybe there's a test the vet can perform to find out what he's allergic to... i bathe Kash every other week and i use johnson's baby shampoo... that could also be the problem... maybe i'll switch to an oatmeal shampoo. i just need to make sure it's tear-free. good luck! |
