Breakfast :aimeeyork Gracie is to smart. We have started feeding her about a teaspoon or so of can food for breakfast so we can mix some minced garlic in it to keep the fleas away. We started it last week. She now comes to you when you are in the kitchen in the morning and barks at you and looks at the fridge then her bowl, then she looks back at you. Then when you start to dish it up she sits there patiently and watches you. Then we put it in the microwave for 10-15 sec. to warm it up and she starts dancing around when the microwave dings. She follows you over to her spot where she eats and waits for you to put it down. Then she eats it up. She makes sure to leave just a little so the kitty can have a little and then the kitty can lick the bowl. She is so sweet. I wanted to give you visual, we think it is so cute. |
I thought garlic was bad for them  Is it effective on fleas? |
onions and garlic are toxic but small amounts are probably ok. I still wouldn't feed it to my dogs. It can cause anemia |
Aw, I can just picture that. She sound so precious, leaving a little for kitty. :D From what I've read, garlic kind of gotten a bad rap around here, onions are still a big no-no, but garlic in small amounts is ok, and some say it's beneficial. It is in lots of different dog foods. |
Nutritional Brewers Yeast sprinkled over the food each day is another way to keep fleas off. I make Dr. Pitcairn's HEALTHY POWDER which has the Yeast flakes. |
We gave it to our other dogs and never had a probem with their health or fleas. She gets a 1/4 tsp. in the morning in her food. She has not had any problems so far. I will definately keep a watch on her. I do not want the problem we had last year. I do not really want to use the medicated stuff. |
She sounds like a real cutie! |
