bath after spaying at what point can I give pepper a bath after her spaying. pepper was spayed on 4/23, the vet buried the stiches and they will disolve on their own. the incision looks good, no redness, swelling, or oozing noted. what do yall think. she is looking pretty bad right now. |
My vet told me no bath for 14 days, Roxi had internal stitches as well..... |
My vet said they can have a bath 10 days after their spay |
Thanks. the vet was out of the office when I picked her up and I forgot to ask the tech. With work and picking up my "new to me car" I completly forgot to call the office and ask him. I guess I'll wait. unfortunatly it rained here last night and she has been running in the mud. (i'll prob just wash her feet they are really bad) |
You can just use the puppy bath wipes on her... I definitely would not give her a bath until 14 days has passed.. My groomer wouldn't even touch Roxi until the 15th day.... But the bath wipes should do the trick!! |
14 days |
I have never followed by the "no bath until" rules. They told me 4 weeks (!!!) for her knee surgery and she puked all over herself by day 3. I just wrapped her legs and butt in plastic wrap and washed the rest of her in the sink with the sprayer. I never "dunk" my dogs anyway. This week would be week 5 after her surgery and I think she has had 5 baths :) I'm just very careful. After 2 weeks I called to find out why no baths even after the incisions healed and they said she might slip in the tub. Um, OK so we put a towel down on the bottom of the bath tub :) Anyway, if you're creative you can do it. Plastic wrap and hand towels work great :D |
I personally wouldn't take any chances.... Roxi can live for 14 days w/out a bath, I just used wipes... I also try not to over bathe her, it can cause her skin to dry.. She needs her natural oils for her coat! |
I waited 13 days. There were no instructions from the vet. Just wait until the outside incision is closed. |
