Frontline Plus Flea Treatment Just wonder if it is necessary to give flea treatment to Chloe?? I don't see any flea on her...or at least yet? I didn't have any problem with her last summer...so...what do you guys think?? Thanks!!! |
Also, where is the best place to buy it?? |
I don't have an answer but I too have a Chloe and the same question. Today I bought some from my vet, based on his recommendation to use it on her, for $54.95. I do trust my vet but the treatment is for dogs up to 22 lbs and my Chloe is no where near that. I guess I just fear that the dosage may be too high. I look forward to hearing what others think. |
I would get it just to be on the safe side. Mike and I got a black lab and she had fleas. We had to give her a few baths with special shampoo and then we had to buy the frontline. Frontline worked really well. We bought it from Petco, but it's cheaper on 1800PetMeds.com That's where we bought from this year for Legacy and Impreza. I think it should be okay to use the whole thing. I can always check with Mike's mom tomorrow morning when I call her. She used to own a some yorkie's. |
Flea meds are full of chemicals, so if you can avoid putting them on her, then that's great! I typically do not use any flea products on my dogs. I do not like the fact that the label says to not let the medication to touch your own skin, yet the meds are put on their skin which is then absorbed into their bodies. That can't be a good thing. |
Frontline I would not ever let my yorkies go without the frontline. I have used it for years and never had a problem. All my yorkies are from 3-7 lbs. Of course you can't use them on pups. I hate the price but well worth it. JMO |
If you don't want frontline you could always try other products or methods to keep them tick free. I'm sure a lot of poeple out there don't use any flea products at all and have no problem with their dogs. |
Frontline-Advantage Both of my little 4lbs. babies had reaction to these chemicals  Haylie Mae had a very bad seizure. :( |
what is the side effect on those flea treatment?? |
I just started Fronline plus on Rosi and Apollo again for the first time , i gave them a break over the Winter. I hate Fleas and dont want to take any chances. My two never had fleas before, and we live in the Country. We get ours from the Vet. |
I have always used Frontline on Buddy with no problems at all. I don't feel it's worth the risk of him bringing fleas into our home. He is in the grass daily and around other's dogs when we walk. The risk is high that he would get fleas. However, I did read on here lately and I never even thought about it before, that the Lyme shot should not be needed if your dog is on Frontline since Frontline also kills ticks! Good point. This year my vet sold me another product put out by Frontline. It kills all ticks within 6hrs. Sorry, I forget the name because I only purchased 3mos instead of the 6months supply and don't have the box. It is a few dollars cheaper than the Frontline, only because it's new on the market this spring. Buddy had no reation from it but I will be talking to my vet next month regarding not giving Buddy the Lyme shot also! I do take him off Frontline from Nov-March giving his body a break. I also hate putting these pestisides on my pet but there is nothing else I can do. My others dogs, in years past wore the Hartz flea collar with no side effects at all. One lived to be 17yrs and the other 16yrs. Sometimes I think all the panic over these products is just magnified by some. Dogs getting fleas are eaten alive by them and the scratching they have to do can drive them nuts. To me it's just not worth the risk. |
