Question about home cooking The last time I opened a can of Evanger's whole chicken thighs, I read the label. The products were thighs and broth. There could not have been 2 thighs in the can for about $2. Is there any reason why I can't cook these at home? Is there a way to cook at home that will make the bones soft enough for my girls to eat, just like Evanger's does? |
Dogs don't need to actually eat bones. They do need some good chewing action and beef marrow bones are just the thing for that. ;) |
I'm bumping. My girls love to eat the Evanger chicken bones. Is there anyway to cook thighs and wings at home so my girls can eat the bones? Would a pressure cooker do the trick? |
I thought there was something toxic about chicken bones if a dog eats them. |

They loved it! I tried the chicken thigh stew. I used a pressure cooker (my first experience with that) and added carrots, peas and potatoes. It took about 3 hours and an extra 2 cups of water to get the bones soft enough for the girls to eat. I scorched it just a bit, but they did not care. I mixed it with a bit of their dry food and my girls scarfed it down. It feels good to home cook for my baby girls. I won't do it all the time, but it is fun when I have the time. |
