So sorry for your loss. :( |
First off I am so sorry this happened to you and your family.. I want to say that many yorkies (mine inclued) play in the hose. As for the 3 yr old playfully hitting the dog, I don't think it is the way it sounds. To me this poor man doesn't talk perfect English and it just doesn't come out the way I would explain it... Again I am so sorry for your loss, you and your family are in my prayers... |
my wifes yorkie died today I am so sorry for you all it must have been a terrible shock. If the heat in New Jersey has been as bad as in Ohio that possibly could have been part of it. I know my Crystal can take the cold but anything over 80 degrees and she is sick. Joan and Crystal |

OMG how horrible to lose your yorkie like that. sounds like the water entered the lungs. :littleang I am so sorry. |
I still feel that you and your wife were very careless, having a tiny fragile baby such as this, if you let your 3 year old squirt this poor little baby with a hose. A three year old is really too young to be around a yorkie. My heart goes out to poor Diamond! I certainly hope you will think before you get another small baby like a yorkie as a playmate to your 3 to 6 or 8 year old son |
wow, I wouldent blame if this guy never wants anything to do with this site ever again. I can not believe he actually felt he had to post the vet form to prove to anybody. And now getting scolded for something he had no idea would hurt let along kill his yorkie. |

 OMGosh, they just lost their baby, how harsh, and as for yorkies being to small to be around kids, what ever. I got my first yorkie before my oldest daughter was born. Does that mean I should have given up my 3yr old yorkie, I think not. I know MANY of us here have children, and I don't think that because we chose to start a family we shouldn't be entitled to a small breed dog... |

I am so sorry to hear about your loss/ I for one think that it might of been Hypoglycemie, Its to hot for any babie to be out longer then 15-20 minutes at a time. and The puppy getting to much water could of been the reason too. again Im so sorry for your loss. |
Too Harsh! I may have been too harsh with my words. I am strictly going by what he said. If you research yorkies, you know they are not for small children. I certainly do not think someone should give up their baby just because they are fixing to have a family. I am saying that if you are responsible enough to have a child, you would certainly teach him/her about the tiny baby. BUT apparently this was a normal thing to play in the hose. Can you honestly say you would let your son at 3, point a hose towards your pup without constantly watching, knowing your son is just a baby himself? My heart goes out to Diamond.... |
To those of you who are feeling my pain thanks for your kind words, but to the ones with the negatives comments my son wasn't squirting water in Diamond's face she was in the house when the water was being put in the pool she got a little wet she puts herself in front of the hose all the time but this day I held her back my husband is Spanish and he words things differently and he wasn't outside the whole time , I LOVED THAT DOG AS IF I GAVE BIRTH TO HER SHE HAD FUVN IN THE 5 YEARS SHE SPEND WITH US SO SHE'S HAPPY WHERE IS NOW SHE KNOWS THAT SHE WAS LOVE. I'M THINKING SOMETHING ELSE WAS WRONG.DIAMOND ALWAYS JUMPED IN AND OUT OF THE POOL BY HERSELF WITH NO PROBLEMS. THANKS |
Also As For Hitting No I Don't Allow My Son To Hit Her At This Time I Was Cooking So I Don't See Him But I Let Him Know Not To Hit Her |
I am so sorry for your loss. Accidents happen, we have all seen it here, but when something bad does happen, as a community all we can do is give our support to those who are mourning, and try and learn something from the whole experience. Please, let's try and do that. It's always so easy to point fingers, and it never gets us anywhere on here. And again, I am sorry for the loss of your poor little Diamond. |

Well said! I second that! All i have to add is please be careful to all yorkie owners with small children, we all know these dogs are fragile, we can teach our own children how to handle small breeds and how to go around with animals, thats our duty as parents! Im sorry for the loss of little Diamond! |

diamond(yorkie) is very hyper she llike to get wet while the hose is filling the at this time my son is holding the hose and playing with diamond. She like to get in front of the hose with her mouth open while barking the day before I notice her soak and wet and shakeing This is what I went by when I said what I have said. I am in no way pointing fingers. I may have been wrong to go just by what your husband wrote. If so , my apologies. We lost Precious at 6 1/2 and WE are the fault of that, and we take the responsibility and grief and horrible guilt every day. If you read this, you will see what I mean.http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/reside...3/Resident.htm Again sorry for your loss...It is a horiible thing to go through. You might find some peace at www.rainbowbridge.com |
My family's condolences goes out to your family. We are truly very sorry. |
I'm sorry for your loss. True many accidents can be prevented, but sometimes it is just THEIR time to go. Whether 1 day old or 10 years old. I'm sorry for your family and hope that you will get through this together. |
I am so sorry for your loss ..I am glad you posted the story because now it got me thinking how dangerous water could be for the lil ones- my yorkie loves to swim in the pool, and float. Now I am not going to allow it, until I read more about the subject! Thanks! |

My furbabies like to roughhouse too. Understanding that the word "rough" is relative, what is rough to my 2 lb. 12 oz little boy is different from my 7 lb. girl, and not even in the same ball park as playing gently with our 60 lb. Boxer. It is all relative...... :animal36 |
well besides the point when i said rex loves to roughhouse he IS  9 lbs    |
My apologies to jmaxc1999 if my post came off as sounding rude and uncaring. We recently had a poster come on with an outlandish story about how her dog had been injured and her parents would not take it to the vet so the poor dog suffered without medical care. It was assumed by many that it was a fabricated story. There are people (I'm one of them) whom do not feel that small children and toy dogs are compatible because of the potential for the small dogs being injured at the hands of children. Reading your words about your young child playfully hitting your yorkie did concern and upset me. Putting it all together I did wonder if the entire post had been done with the intentions of getting people upset. I do see that it wasn't fabricated and is genuine and you have suffered a heartbreaking tragedy. I'm very sorry at the loss of your beloved yorkie. As mentioned by Chlois, may you find comfort at the bridge. |

Your wifes yorkie I'm sorry to hear about your lose. |
A Dog For Jesus I wish someone had given Jesus a dog. As loyal and loving as mine. To sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes And adore Him for being divine. As our Lord grew to manhood His faithful dog, Would have followed Him all through the day. While He preached to the crowds and made the sick well and knelt in the garden to pray. It is sad to remember that Christ went away. To face death alone and apart. With no tender dog following close behind, To comfort its Master's Heart. And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn, How happy He would have been, As His dog kissed His hand and barked it's delight, For The One who died for all men. Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent Him mine, The old pal so dear to me. And I smile through my tears on this first day alone, Knowing they're in eternity. Day after day, the whole day through, Wherever my road inclined, Four feet said, "Wait, I'm coming with you!" And trotted along behind. Rudyard Kipling |
