How much $$ does it cost??
 
For a puppy's shots the 1st year? Anyone have a ballpark figure?

Well we just had our rabies and it was 15.00. Has the puppy had any shot at all yet. Id say ballpark less that 50.00.

Expect to spend a few hundred if you go to a vet There are lot of Low cost places that do shot's since i have 3 we go to petland to get our shot's it was $50 per dog for all the shot's

I just went, it was $45 for vet visit, $14 for distemper and $14 for bordetella, $15 for squeezing anal glands and $21 for worming. I rounded up on the shots, all together my visit was $113. I go back in 3 weeks for round 2 of shots including rabies, I'm expecting to pay around $50 because I don't think I have to have the vet exam again, just the shots. hmm I better call and make sure. :)

P.S. I also need to get flea stuff which runs about $15 month and then it's another $38 for the microchipping. $175 for the neuter and another $45 for the bloodwork.

Wow I think 50.00 is still pretty high for low cost shots. I must just have a great vet (I think so anyway lol). I guess it just depends on where you live.

Phew all that jsut made me cringe lol. What do they use for worming?

Probably. The pricing between the vet and the low cost vet in my area was pretty much the same price, give or take a few pennies. I opted for the accredited vets office being I'd be charged the same anyway. :) Go figure.

To be honest I didn't ask but I have no qualms about this vet so I'm not too worried. What I loved is that they took him in the back and gave him the shots and then brought him back to me and said here you go. My prior vet makes you hold them while they give them the shots. I think it traumatized me more then him doing that.

I have to say that with all the shots, visits, microchiping, registration, etc... My first year of vet bills amounted to a pretty penny...at least $ 500

Thankfully I didn't have to do the fecal and hopefully won't have to worry about dental either. They gave me a sheet wanting me to buy their puppy wellness plan for $240 which included all shots, fecals, free nail trim, exam, and a couple other things which I didn't think I'd do so I opted out. But I remember it saying that in comparision if I did that, I'd end up spending just over $400 for the puppy stuff (this did not include spay/neuter/dental or chipping), but I was hoping to not need the fecals and the other things. I have the form at home I think if you want the specifics on it.

Funny this should come up now... I took my 3 dogs to the Vet on Saturday and was SHOCKED when I got the bill ...$512.00... I have been in shock all weekend. How is this possible !!! This is the last time I am taking them altogether.

That is great I feel the same about our vet. I have a ex-friend that will ask the vet all kinds of questions and then say well we had a breeder to tell us this or that, I dont know why she is even going to the vet if she doesn't trust what he has to say. We only had the rabies the last visit, Izzy didnt even flinch, so hopefully she was not to traumatized with the whole thing. Dr. Lee was like I hate to even give her a shot shes so little, but she did great. Its hard to realize how much you spend and how much it really all cost when you see it on paper:eek:. Sorry for rambling I just got carried away lol.

i spent about 250 for pebbles shots & visits. she just got finished with them about 2 weeks ago... man thats expensive compared to what everyone else is saying, but the vet saw my puppy every time and examined her to make sure she was growing properly and to see if anything was wrong, and gave the shots herself. I also had her do all the tests to make sure she was healthy and didnt have liver shunt or anything else genetically wrong, and she got a deworming one time

Ask your vet about a puppy package. When I got Cali, I got the puppy package and it was $250 for ALL her puppy shots/dewormings/vet visits. I also got 6 months heartworm medicine and 3 months of flea preventative. Also included was a discounted rate of microchipping.
