Which of these 3 should I go with?????
 

Hi all. I got a Yorkie pup about 2 weeks ago. She came to me eating "Costco" brand dog food. I switched her to EaglePack but she does not seem very into it at all! She is eating VERY little. I am hunting for a new food and have two other choices. I am not great at label reading so I will post the ingredients for Acana, Performatrin Ultra(which is sold only in Canada), and the EaglePack. Could those of you who know anything about ingredients read them over and give me opinions? Thanks!

Of the three foods you listed, the Performatrin Ultra Puppy Food ingredients sound best, IMO.....at least with it, the first ingredient listed is "chicken" versus "chicken meal" with the other two foods.

I think that is very good, not too high and not too low. I would go with that one. The other two brands do not have enough meat protein in them, too much grain and fillers.

Ok, thanks. I was getting rather worried because she wasn't seeming to eat much at all so I asked the vet how much per day she should be eating. He said maybe around a quarter of a cup a day. So the day before yesterday I put a quarter cup of food in her dish and days later there is still almost all of it there! I could not even get her interested at all! When I put about 8 pieces of Performatrin Ultra in the dish with her other food she went crazy and ate all the 8 pieces and spit out the Eaglepack pieces if she picked one up!

I am supposed to be gradually changing her food by mixing them together but she WILL not eat the EaglePack! Is this ok to just switch without mixing?

If she has been eating the Performatrin kibbles and not getting diarrhea or sick, I would change the ratio and start giving more of the Performatrin less of the EaglePack for a few days.

The thing is....I can mix them together but she won't eat a single piece of the EaglePack...she'll scout out the Performatrin and gobble them up and then when they are all gone she walks away. So technically she isn't getting a balance of old and new food.

I just did the feeding so I haven't seen if she will have poop issues yet.

ANOTHER QUESTION....what food ingredients make them scratch alot? Are certain ingredients pron to them being allergic to or causes dry/itchy skin? She does seem to scratch and she doesnt have fleas.

I HIGHLY suggest Orijen Puppy! It is made in Vancouver and is a 6 star premuim food. Everyone I know around my area feeds their Yorkies Orijen or Ancana. I feed it to my 6mth old and her skin is no longer dry and flaky and her coat is nice and soft and shiny. :)

Corn is one of the ingredients that causes scratching due to allergies. How old is you puppy? It is very important that she eats. You could just let her eat the Performatrin and hope for the best or you could put the EaglePack and Performatrin together in a blender and grind them up a little so she will get some of each. How much does she weigh? You have to make sure her blood sugar does not drop because that could cause her to not want to eat also. If she gets constipated or diarrhea then just give her a little pure pumpkin with a little corn syrup added to it. I have one little boy that gets constipated easy so twice a day I take some pure canned pumpkin and add some baby food sweet potatoes and some baby food peas or carrots to it and mix well. I just let him lick it off my fingers. You could also add some baby food chicken to it. The only problem with doing that is that they get spoiled very fast and look forward to it. I always mix up enough so all my dogs can have a couple tastes of it so they don't feel left out.

None of them are "real" food, so I'd go with home cooking. ;) It's simple and healthy.
