Raw Food - does it need fiber and vitamin supplements? Hi, For those of you who have your furbabies on the raw food diet: My Maximus is four months old and has been on the raw food for a few days now. He loves it! But I read somewhere that it may need to be supplemented with fiber and vitamins. I am using Nature's variety frozen raw food. Do any of you think his fiber and vitamins need to be supplemented? |
I don't believe it is necessary. We are also feeding NV medallions, I do add a supplement but that is by choice. There are plenty of people here that feed NV and add nothing! |
If the food is approved by AAFCO, you don't have to add anything.:) |

The bag for NV says: NV Formula Raw Frozen Diet for Dogs and Cats is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog and Cat Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages! |
NV medallions have everything needed in them...you'd only be overdoing the vitamins and minerals if you supplement...it could throw ratios off. I do give fish oil/vitamin E with the raw and that's pretty much the only supplement I think is really needed (well..not necessary but it helps with my dog's coat) |
Don't need a thing - you have a wonderfully complete diet there! Glad to hear the NV is going so well, congrats! :D |
I've been wanting to switch from Wellness to NV but I just was wondering if it is good for their teeth or not? Sorry if thats a silly question! |
Like Myfairlacy and Wylie's mom said..NV has everything ..so you don't really need anything..I do give mine some fish oil once a day with food though..I am thinking..i might do once every other day in the summer time. |
I am waiting on my first shipment of nvr, I would like to ask though for those of you that feed it, how do you need to travel w/it? |
