how hot should a yorkie's skin feel? yorkie's have a slightly higher body temperature than humans, right? what's the norm (99, 100 degrees?) how hot should their skin feel on a regular basis? i'm asking because sometimes when i'm holding Kash, his belly area (where there's no hair) seems hot to the touch. not scalding, but hotter than i expected. sometimes it shocks me when i pick him up... what's normal? he doesn't act sick, so i don't think he's feverish. thanks! |
Normal is 101 - 102.5. It's funny, bc sometimes I think Wylie feels hot too - a little "hot body" - but I think it's normal. :) |
Me too.......I asked my Vet about this the last visit because I was so concerned. He said it was because it was on her belly where there was no hair; it felt warmer, whereas you don't notice the warmth other places because of the hair.   I guess? They did take her temp & @the time, it was normal. |
I was just at my vet Tuesday and asked about this too since Itsy seemed very hot in my arms in the waiting room. Her temp was normal. The vet said it's normal for their bellies to feel kind of hot. |
When I first got Archie and would let him snuggle in bed with me, my skin would actually burn from him being glued to my legs under the cover! I, too, was worried at first, but he didn't seem sick. I found out later that their temperature is 101-102 degrees. Now he just makes a great foot warmer! |
wow... 101-102 seems high! but i'm glad it's normal for yorkies. thnx everyone! |
