Double row of teeth My little boy, Itty Bitty, was acting like his mouth was bothering him so when I looked at his teeth I realized he has two rows on teeth on the top and the top set seems to be protruding out toward his front gums. I have never had a puppy with a double row like this and I was wondering what others have experienced with this. Itty Bitty is just 6 1/2 months old and just weighs around 2 lbs. I will be calling the vet tomorrow but I am concerned about his size and having to get teeth pulled. The top set looks like it is just breaking through the skin so it seems like it would be hard to pull them being so tiny. Any input would be appreciated. |
Give him lots of chew things...they will start falling out. The vet will pull doubles when he goes under for his neuter. |
Holly has some extra teeth. She is 7 months. I will have those last baby teeth pulled when she has her spay. |
It's pretty common for these little ones to retain their baby teeth. When you get him neutered they can pull any that haven't come out on their own. |
If you have confidence in your vet , it woud be better to have the teeth pulled out asap . Someone I know have a 2 pounds little one with a double row of teeth , his owner waited too long and the little one have a mouth infection , he is on antibiotic . As soon as he will be better , the vet will pull out the teeth . |

Many of the tiny one retain their teeth longer. I just had Feather spayed last week and had 9 baby teeth pulled. I waited til she was older to give her the chance to lose as many as possible and to gain some weight. She is 2.6lbs now |
Thanks to all that replied. He seems to be doing better today. I have scheduled him an appointment for next Wednesday. |
When I got Autumn (5 months old) she had two rows of teeth on the bottom! She had them all pulled (10 of them) when I had her spayed. They were not loose at all! |
Yorkies are also known as "land sharks",thus the double row of teeth |
