So glad that smokie is doing well, he is still very young, so I'm sure they will be able to kill the adults with the injections and careful monitoring.....just make sure you keep him as calm as possible and never neglect the heartworm medicine to ward off any young........ good luck and puppy kisses from Gracie :) |

I am so glad your English Setter recovered. And even more so importantly, I do hope Smokie will recover also! Many prayers for this little guy! Please keep us posted as time goes on how Smokie is doing.. |
heart worm Hi schatzie and everybody, yes it sure is time consuming and painful for Smokie, they gave him something so he wouldn't feel the injections but later he was really sore. I've had dogs all my life and never had one have Heartworms BUT always kept them on interceptor a heartworm preventive. It's costly but not really compared to the treatment. Yes I think everybody mesquitoes (sp) ask your vet about the meds, it's worth every penny. I have a Terrier mix and he's on Interceptor all year long, not just summer time. Smokie acts likes he feels better, has more energy. But it scares me because we are suppose to keep him calm. As I said in an earlier post he has him last injection on March 1st. Boy will I be glad when this is over. Then I'll be ready to groom him a lot better. I've not ben able to trim his nails because of getting him excited. He hates to have his feet messed with. He has hair inside his ears, I've read here that it needs to be plucked. |
Ohhh, poor Smokey...but what a brave lil boy he is. You must be very proud of him. And i agree with you, it is very important to keep them on a heartworm preventive... Hope to see pictures of a groomed and healthy Smokey pronto! |
Heart Worms Hi eveverybody, I hav'nt been on here for a while. Just wanted to let you know Smokie is doing GREAT. We went to the vet last week and got the  He's on Heart Worm preventive now & has lots more energy. He rolls on the carpet now, he never did that before. He chases our other dog to steel his bone from him lol I'm so excited about being done with the treatment. Now I feel better about going to Florida for a week now. Smokie & I will be on the beach, I hope he's not scared of the water even know I won't be that close to it when I have him out there. Thanks for all your support. Debbie & Smokie |
