questions about home cooking Someone recently suggested that I cook for my dog, being that i am spending so much money on human grade soft food for her. I am really loving the evangers canned food, and she is eating it right up! I dont think she would have a problem switching because what shes eating now is pretty close to reg human food. So, my question is... for those of you that cook your dogs meals, what do you cook/include in the meal? Will I have to give her supplements if im cooking? Do you mix it up or do you cook the same thing all the time? Are there any recipes you can share? :) thanks |
Oo! I just noticed the sticky yorkie recipes thread :p durr to me! |
Home cooking I always cook for all 4 of my dogs--and supplement with dry food. I use chicken--sometimes I buy the canned chicken--drain the juice--but save it--and grind it up in the chopper--it goes farther that way. I also feed rice, turkey, apples--homemade applesauce--unsweetened--easy to do--cottage cheese--plain yogurt--very good for their digestive tract-----veggies---etc. I have been advised not to use supplements, but to just feed them a good balanced diet.............I also use the ground turkey--and some beef----this am for breakfast he had chicken, rice and a bit of the juice from the chicken dribbled over the top. For lunch he may get chicken and a teaspoon of yogurt--along with some dry food. Hope this helps. |
