OK People Foods??????? I was just wondering what "people" foods were ok to feed Kobi? He realy likes dry cereal as a treat. But I only give him that very seldom. So what other things is it ok if he eats? Thanx! |
Here is a list I made in another thread: Here is a partial list of things that are definately NOT okay to give a dog followed by a list of things that are definately okay to give a dog (unless your dog is allergic): Chocolate Onion Leaks Shallots Chives Garlic (debatable but I avoid) Macadamia nuts Grapes Raisins Excessively fatty meat Salty foods Artificial Sweeteners Boiled chicken (white meat, no skin, fat or seasonings) Brown and white rice Pasta Barley Potato and sweet potato (peeled and boiled or peeled and baked) Green beans (cooked) Carrot (raw or cooked) Squash (zuccini, yellow, butternut, spaghetti...cooked) Lettuce Bell Peppers Apples (peeled, no seeds) Watermelon Banana Egg (I prefer boiled) Cottage cheese (lower fat is probably best...reduced sodium is also good) Yogurt (plain and lower fat) Berries Oatmeal When boiling foods for dogs, I would not recommend salting the water, especially if you are feeding dog food. What kind of cereal? |

I will say this, if I can help it, Ellie will NEVER eat any. |

Cheerios are fine and broccoli and cauliflower are fine raw or cooked but sometimes cause GI upset. |

yeahhh!! i noticed that the pineapple is good in small quantities.. like as a small treat.. i used it so chippy would stop eating his poop... but now he never eats it.. i fed him a lot of pineapple one time and he threw up.. i never gave him pineapple after that.. even though he begs and begs.. i always thought potato was bad for dogs.. but sweet potato was good.. it's nice to hear that regular potatoes are good for them as well =D |

RECOMMENDED LEGUMES Kidney beans Lentils Pinto beans Soybeans Split peas White or black beans BEST-LIKED VEGGIES THAT CAN BE FED RAW Chopped parsley Alfalfa sprouts Grated carrots (cook for cats) Grated zucchini THESE VEGETABLE FAVORITES SHOULD BE COOKED BEFORE FEEDING Corn Peas Green beans Broccoli Sweet potatoes DAIRY Powdered milk Eggs Plain non-fat yogurt Cheddar cheese Cottage cheese (non-fat) GRAINS Oats Millet brown rice Bulgur barley Whole wheat couscous Cornmeal buckwheat Wheat berries MEATS LEAN: Turkey, chicken, hamburger, chuck, duck, rabbit, tuna, mackerel & salmon. FATTY: Roaster chicken (with skin) fatty beef heart, brains, regular hamburger, fatty chuck, sirloin steak, lamb or prok, (If using fatty meat, reduce the amount of oil in the recipe) organ meats, such as hearts, gizzard, kidney & liver. (easy on the liver) These were taken from Dr. Pitcairns book. Some dogs have allergies to corn and wheat, but I've never had one allergic to any of the food groups. However, my three Yorkies get sick on raw meats. Be sure to never give more than one new food at a time for at least three or four days to test for any reactions. |
