question for picky eaters Hey guys as some of u no, Abby has only been eating chicken gerber and couple of treats n like 5 kibble at night when she plays. She's been eating this for a week already. She pees and poops fine as that is not my concern. The thing is that i already want her to eat something thats good for her. I'm throwing away the science diet she doesnt like it n i heard its bad anyway. I was just wondering if i could get some ideas on good natural puppy food that she will gobble up right away. She weighs 1.5 lbs and is 3 months old. THanks all in advance... |
Have you tried Evangers canned food? Has she been tested for liver shunt? Just with a few of the things going on with her (tiny, inappetance, was shaky), it wouldn't hurt to check. |

Usually the dog is fasted 12 hours (overnight). A sample is taken. The dog is fed. Another sample is taken 2 hours later. The 12 hour fast protocol has now been changed and less emphasis is being put on it. I think a 6 or 8 hour fast would probably be fine (since she is so small). |
That's what I was thinking - possible liver issues. To put your mind at ease, I suggest calling your Vet to make an appt. for a Bile Acid Test (BAT) - it is approx. $70 - depending on where you live, but this is a specific liver function test, and IMO is extremely important and should be done ASAP at this point with all that you have been saying about her. |

Mine love the California Natural wet and dry. I just bought a 20 lb bag of the puppy kibble if you would like I can send you a sampe of it and see if she will eat it. I know how expensive it gets to buy food they won't eat. Also if you have a specialty pet store near by they usually will givefree sample bags of the better dog foods. |
Also, if you continue having trouble with her eating dry foods and you begin to worry about her eating Try some boiled chicken breats and brown rice Remember Plenty of fluids!!! both are excellent Remember to boil the chicken b/c any other way can cause stomach problems |
Also remember when shopping for foods...really check the ingredients and if you purchase canned food check those ingredients too...a lot of compacted canned foods are 75% water And chicken broth is good too for flavoring. She might eat it better if you mix the dry and wet together or add a little broth to her food. |
