Upset Stomach My dog Bosco stomach gets upset often and it seems to happen for no reason. We never give him table food or anything other than is dog food, other than a scrambled egg once in a while. I heard this is common with this breed. When it happens, his stomach makes loud noises and he has diarrhea. Is there anything I can give him to help? One problem, he is very stubborn and won't take any medicine, especially when he doesn't feel well. |
I know Cosmo has been throwing up and I have to give him some medicine the vet gave me. If that does not work i have to get him xrayed to see if there is a blockage or something. Does he like to chew? Why dog food are you giving him? Have you tried to contact your vet? Sorry there is a lot of questions but I am going through the throwing up thing and I was asked all this too to get to the bottom of it. |
Sounds like your little one has a sensitive stomach...Magic has a sensitive stomach and it took us a long time to figure this out, we tried many thing to help her...but she would still get sick, after discussing it with our vet we whiched Magic onto Nutro's Sensitive Stomach Lamb and Rice...it is a very bland food that is specifically made for those little ones who can't diguest things correctly...Magic has been on this food for about a month now and we have had NO problems at all... Also the older they get the better they get...Magic was always sick when she was younger and the older she got the less often it occured... I would let your vet know what is going on so they can track him...your vet also may have other suggestions on how to keep him off medicine!!! |
Bosco is 6 years old and this has been going on for a while. We have taken him to the vet, but the only thing he gave us was some pills to give him when he has the upset stomach, but Bosco is very stubborn and will not take it, not matter what you do. If you hide it in something, he will eat around it and spit out the pill. He doesn't chew and when he is sick he doesn't throw up, just problems with his stool. We feed him iambs dog food (dry). I wonder if Iambs makes any sensitive stomach dog food? I find it strange because he happens perodically. |
For Bosco! Try switching his food gradually to Royal Canine for Yorkshire Terriers. My babies have sensitive stomachs too and this has been a great food for them! |
I went to the store and found Iambs Sensitive Stomach Lamb and Rice. I am going to try and put him on that instead since he already eats Iambs, hopefully it won't be such a big change. Thanks so much for all the help! |
It sounds like you founds something that will probably help...we have found that the Lamb and Rice formula does wonders for their stomachs...Magic has gone almost a month now with no problems and she was the same way, it was not throwing up but her stool that was the problem and we could never find the cause...we have come to the conclusion now that we think she was reacting to the chicken favor that we have been giving her...we now have her on all Lamb and Rice, even treats and cookies and she does great on them!!! I hope your little one gets better, keep us updated on his process!!!! |
My girl has a sensitive stomach like you've described. I don't give her table scraps at all only her food. I feed her Royal canin mini bites. You can give chicken and rice to help with the diarhea. |
Brittany, has your vet done any bloodwork on Bosco? You might have them do a blood profile to rule out problems with the liver. |
