Raw and what else??? for those of you that feed raw, i feed my furbaby NV raw medallions, do you guys add salmon oil to that or bone meal or you just feed the raw and nothing else?? |
Nope, no bone meal bc there is already bone in the medallions - so you'd be throwing the cal/phos balance way off if it was added. I use fish oil (Eicosaderm) and I'm aware of others who do and plenty who don't too. I also give them breaks from the fish oil as well - on for awhile, off for 3 weeks or so. |
I feed the medallions and no added stuff. There is bone in it so that isn't needed. I don't add anything else. |
I give a fish oil/vitamin E supplement (Eicosaderm by Dermapet) |
We use bravo with bones, but I also use call of the wild supplement. Mainly bc the cats love the flavor of call of the wild. |
I'm not supplementing. Should I be? |

Very Picky????? hi guys, thanks for your responses. Sometimes I get so frustrated because my fur baby is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo picky. we just recently started him on raw, the NV medallions chicken and turkey flavor. He was eating that for about 3 days or so and then one day just deicided not to eat it. I know hes picky and he likes variety so I went out and bought the lamb flavor. He didnt even eat it, he sniffed and walked away. Then I put out the chicken/turkey mix and he gobbled it up. I dont know how to handle his pickyness, I am spending lots of money to accomadate my furbaby. Does anyone else have this problem or can everyone else just feed their fur baby the same food?? I dont want to keep spending money to buy flavors and then he doesnt like them.. |

Michelle - Should I just go to a health food store and buy any kind of fish oil? How do I use it, put it on her food? Same for vitamin E? |

I use the salmon oil by Kronch which has both Omega 3 and 6. One pump a day. I use to give my baby holistic supplements by ESP; Multi-Vitamin and Mineral, Immunity with Colostrum, Skin-Hair-Joint, which were all are admininstered with droppers. I just switched him to Flying Basset Organic's Super Hero Treats which are chewable tablets. Since he got neutered a month and half ago, he has been super picky about food. I tried all different meats but he would only eat chicken and sometimes lamb. Now it's work to get him to eat those as well. After his surgery, I fed him some mashed cooked chicken and soup and I have a feeling he is looking for cooked food. He will smell his raw food and turn the other way. I have tried luring him in with putting a treat to his nose and bury it in his food to make him eat. I also bought some food toppers to do the same. It's always a pain when they get picky like this. I just try to mix it up for him and hopefully he gets back on track. |
