Need some Soothing.... try LAVENDER!! I took Shelby to Physical therapy today and before we started, the therapist asked if I would mind if she put a little lavender on top of Shelby's head. I said that it would be fine, so she put a TINY amount between her fingers and rubbed her fingers together and then rubbed the top of Shelby's head. She said that it was for "soothing". I guess there has been studies done and it DOES work. She also suggested that it was great when your dog needed a little "calming" for a car ride, too. I have some lavender after bath spray that I purchased at Petsmart..... I will be using it for more than just a "good smelling dog" from now on!!! |
I never thought about that before. I knew that it could be calming to people but I never thought to try it on Louie! That is a great idea, thanks for sharing. |
I never thought of that either. I have 2 that get nervous in the car & vomit just about every time. Do you think Lavender would do the trick? I don't like using drugs unless it is absolutely neccesary |

I bathe Bella in Cain and Able's Lavender and Eucalyptus shampoo! Maybe that is why she doesnt shake and get stressed out! |
Lavender does work. I have a very small bottle of pure oil and put just a very small amount in the nostrils of my horses if it's needed to calm them down. I get results.:animal-pa |
