Has anyone used Dinovite? http://www.dinovite.com/ here is what they say on the site? Is your Dog the Picture of Health? Healthy happy dogs eat well. They get the enzymes they need to help properly digest even the best brand name dog foods. They get the nutrients they need to help, promote and maintain their good health. Healthy dogs have soft healthy coats, sweet breath, and sunny dispositions. Happy dogs don't constantly itch, scratch, shed like crazy, stink beyond belief or keep you up all night. Healthy dogs are a pleasure to be around, vibrant and full of life. They have stuff to give. Isn’t that what you want? A healthy, happy dog? |

I think it has a couple of questionable ingredients in it for allergies (like flax) but I have never tried it. |
Daisy Mae, I've never heard of it. Where did you come across it? I too would have to wonder about the ground grain sorghum and flax. I wonder how many vets know anything about it.:animal-pa |
Lori, interesting to see you ask this. I started a similar thread awhile back (could be a year or more) and don't think I ever got a response. Their adverstising campaign is certainly compelling, but, like you, I prefer real world opinions. I hope someone here has something to say about it. |
Yes I bought Dinovite - My oldest boy Maxx has allergies. It DOES work, IF you can get your dog to eat it everyday. Unfortunately Maxx is also a VERY picky eater. He was eating the dinovite that I mixed into his canned food and after about 2 weeks, I saw a very clear difference. His coat was shiny, not oily, he didn't smell and he wasn't itchy anymore. It was working really great and then all the sudden he wouldnt eat his food with it mixed in anymore so as of now I am battling this problem. I am hand feeding him to get him to eat it but now that things are blooming, I am losing the battle and will take him to the vet to get on his allergy pills again for this year. I was very hopeful that Dinovite alone would help him without the use of pills and such. If he would've kept eating the Dinovite I think it would've worked. Now, he'll eat it like every other day or two. |
Ingredients: Ground flax, kelp meal (Ascophyllum nodosum), yeast culture, ground grain sorghum, diatomaceous earth, zinc methionine, montmorillonite clay, yucca schidigera, alfalfa meal, ascorbic acid , Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product dehydrated, Lactobacillus casei fermentation product dehydrated, Bifido bacterium bifidium fermentation product dehydrated, Streptococcus faecium fermentation product dehydrated, Aspergillus oryzae fermentation product dehydrated. I've looked at this before and I think it looks okay, but personally, I'd just rather my dogs get their Omegas from fish oil - not a grain derivative (aka, flax). Flax can make some dogs itchy, and some dogs can't even convert it to its usable form anyway. Plus, yeast? No way - I'd steer my dudes as far away from that little number as much as I can. :D |

I like to come to my YT Family With all my Doggy Concerns :) |
If you feed a premium kibble, premium canned food, home cook or feed raw there is no need for this stuff. Most of us supplement omegas, probiotics (yogurt), etc. If you feed Purina this might help, but isn't it better to feed a better food anyway? It has too many questionable ingredients. There are better supplements out there. |
BTW you all I was not in any way wanting to get this. I do feed premium food :D I was just wondering if there were any information from the YT Crew on this... Thanks:D |
Dinovite Ingredients I had a lot of the questions about the ingredients, too, so I did some research. The ground flax everyone is worried about is really good for the body. It offers omega 3s and is an excellent source of fiber. Ground flaxseed: Better than whole? - MayoClinic.com The yeast isn't a bad yeast. It is a very good one. It has Vitamin B-complex, protein. It is actually very different than brewer's yeast, which is the bad yeast. The ground grain sorghum was harder to find, but it functions as a stabilizer. If you go to All Natural Ingredients , they show you what each ingredient is for and the benefit of it. ..... Hope this helps. I use their supplements and love them. |
Thanks for taking the time to help, I really apprciate it. |
Also keep in mind that the min protein content is 10% as stated on their website. THis probably isn't a great option for those who are concerned about their Yorkies getting too much protein. |
