teeth cleaning? okay so from i have learned from YT is that our babies need a teeth brushing every year right? well do they sedate them for that? my girl still has her canine baby teeth and she is turning a year next month, can they pull them during her teeth cleaning? and typically what is the price for a cleaning? |
Many vets recommend an annual, sedated tooth brushing for adult dogs. I've never done it, but I've heard the cost is around $500, well at least for larger dogs. Perhaps Yorkies are less. I would imagine that could be done when the baby teeth are being pulled, and it would be a good idea to check. I use a finger brush and brush every day and have so far avoided the need for a sedated cleaning. He's 4. |

It's funny you mention this because I just scheduled an appointment for Diamond to have her teeth cleaned and was going to ask the same questions :D She is 2 but has never had a professional teeth cleaning and the groomer recently brushed her teeth for me and said her back teeth look really bad and could fall out. I looked at them and basically her back teeth have a lot of plaque and tartar buildup but her front teeth are A-okay. The vet told me if they look at her teeth and don't think they need to be cleaned, they will call but I have a feeling they will need to clean at least the back teeth. I just hope she is okay :thumbup: |
Why put your dog under, pay around $500.00 when you can care for the teeth yourself? It's so easy. Just brush daily and use petzlife 2x a week. That's it. Plus, of course, a nice safe chew bone. There may be a time when it has to be done, every couple of years or so. Buddy is 4 and his teeth are sparkling white. No tartar anywhere. I know they would not look like that if I had not cared for them but that was one of the things I read before I got him. Yorkies loose their teeth early if not properly taken care of. So I was determined to do my best. So far so good. |
for teeth cleaning its about $80 they are sedated they go home the same day usually a ultrasonic pick water machine is used it vibrates and cleans the teeth from gums down inside and outside front and back it will take od plaque buildups but not any staining baby teeth could also be extracted at this time at about $10 per tooth anything priced higher just doesn't seem fair! after the cleaning a tooh burush and paste are used to scrub them . this is also a good time to do nails as they are asleep .they also usually get a bath n dry before they go home |
After she gets her teeth cleaned, I am going to force myself to do it daily with PetzLife! Up until now, I have been a bad mommy and only brushing once every two weeks, if that. :( |

i brush her teeth about 4-5 times a week, it's VERY difficult.. but i try my best every time.. her back teeth look as though there is some plaque forming.. i am going to get the petzlife asap.. but i was wondering about her canines the most.. she is already spayed, had that done at the time of her liver shunt surgery:( .. she had the smaller baby teeth pulled at that time too. but the surgeon was unfortunately unable to get the canines, he couldn't leave her under any longer and they are REALLY stuck in there.. so i assumed i would atleast get some necessary work done while she under anyways for the pulling of the canines.. :confused: :confused: |
I need to google petzlife! Our vet suggested twice a year. We brush, but still got tartar, they also have dentalbites and crunchy dry food only. Some doggies just acquire tartar faster and these teensey mouths in energetic doggies make adequate brushing VERY difficult for me. |
