Either way, no one is saying you shouldn't trust you vet or you did the wrong thing by giving your kittens Advantage... it's just always a safe bet to look things up and ask before giving it to your pet. Below is a good link that tells you the effects of pesticides (found in most flea/tick/mite medication). The site talks about toxicity to humans and the risks, but I think it can also give us at least a "head up" for our pets. Look up the drug you are thinking of using and find the active ingrediant (Flea Medication: Pyrethrins, Pyrethroids, Fipronil, & Other Flea Medications) then go check it out on this website: PAN Pesticides Database: Chemical Active Ingredient Search |

here is a dog having a reaction after vectra 3d http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...onia-help.html |
Scared of vectra 3d I just gave my 3lb Yorkie her dose of Vectra 3D..almost the whole dose when I realized it smells potent like rubber cement or something. I did some research and after reading about all the sick or dead dogs that had had this product I immediately gave my dog a bath within 20 minutes of application. Now I'm really afraid I just poisoned my poor puppy!!! OMG! Anyone know if you think she will be since I bathed her right away? Would all of it have gotten into her system already...Im kinda freaking out waiting for a reaction now. She once a had a 12 hr reaction to her distemper shot where she was throwing up and very inactive...I'm afraid she may get one this time. Anyone have any good advice?? |

Terrible side effects with Vectra 3D My babies had a bad reaction to this product. My boy started walking sideways and with a limp as if he had a wooden leg (back, right leg). My girl was lethargic, kept trying to lick it off and slept more than usual. Neither wanted to eat, drink water or play. They were not behaving normally after I applied the Vectra :thumbdown I washed them to give them some relieve and took them to the vet. The vet administered a Benedryl shot to both of them and told me to keep an eye on them for 48 hours and if they did not improve to call him. Well, it didn't improve so I called the vet and took them back to the hospital. The vet told me to give them a bath that evening and another in the morning to wash off the med. I did that and 4 days later, it's getting better but my babies are still not 100%. I'm going back to Frontline (the better of two evils) Until I figure out how to get my babies off drugs while keeping them safe at the same time (a difficult balancing act):( I cringe every time I have to give drugs to my trusting little angels. :cry8: |

Using little garlic can be helpful to repel fleas; or herbal spray with neem or eucalyptis oil; see halo herbal dip. You can use some antioxidant to detox your dog from the vectra. Vitamin C and E and some milk thistle to detox the liver. these drugs are horrible and can cause irreversible neurological problems. good luck |

I'll follow your advice . Though my babies are by my side most of the time, they do enjoy their independence in the back yard. That's where I'm afraid they'll get a tick or something from the deer, rabbits, etc. that like to visit our yard. If it weren't because of that and our visits to Petsmart and the like, I wouldn't use any of those drugs. But, since I have to, I'll look into a safer alternative. I'm so disapointed to hear the reason why Vectra was recommended to me . Had it killed my babies, I don't know how I would have taken it. I was almost in tears watching them suffer. I just pray there aren't any lasting side effects. I've told them mommy's so sorry, and they kiss me, I feel so guilty :(. How trusting and sweethearts, they are :animal-pa |
