Bailey got neutered and I tried to be strong And not post all the questions I had...I just read all the other search posts... But I am a little bit nervous and not sure what to do. Bailey is a jumper. He had his neuter yesterday and he did really well. He is back to his normal self. i gave him the dose of metacam this morning and we all settled down for a lazy day on he coach. As I dozed off, he JUMPED OFF THE COUCH...I looked because I know he should stay still and he kind of limped around and laid down like he hurt something. His stitches look a little red and swollen, but not major, but he is a bit irritable. He is even trying to take his lampshade off his head and whining.... Do you think he may be in pain? His first dose was at 7am... Vet is closed til Monday...any advice. |
He may feel some discomfort. If the stitches start to look infected call the er vet. Maybe you could put a onesie on him instead of the lampshade. I think that makes them uncomfortable too. Hope he feels better. |
Ouch Alphie just had his done Friday and he is also a jumper. The first night he did not but now its Saturday afternoon and he has started to jump. I have him in my bedroom with the T.V on (Food Network) and old robes and blankets on the floor. I come in a play with him and he pretty much stayes back here. But he is also wearing a belly band. (yea) he goes outside for breaks with the leash. What does your vet tell you to put on the stiches? Mine says Triple antibiotic. And I have to keep him here till next friday. Jack comes in and visits and takes a nap with him. (brothers). I feed him and his water is back here too. In fact he is asleep on the floor next to me. Hope this helps. Cheryl:animal-pa |

Good idea - I am off to walmart for a onesie w/ some neosporin. Thanks for the advice! |
So you have him crated the entire time? |

Hey what size onesie should I get Bailey who is weighing in at 9lbs? |
You've gotten great advice, just want to say I hope Bailey feels better tomorrow. Sheila |
Ouch No, I don't crate him. The only time I do that is when they ride with me in the car. I have 2-crates in the back seat. One for Jack and One for Alphie. Strapped with the seat belts. He is fine now I have soft music playing and he is laying down. None of the others come around him while he is in my room. Exact Jack he comes in every once in a while. Cheryl:animal-pa |
Oh ok - so he is just laying quietly by himself. I got Bailey into the onesie, cut out a piece for his tail...he is so happy now, its like he didnt even have surgery. He tried to lick "down there" but he got a mouth full of cotton instead. And he looks so cute... Thanks for the advice, I will try to keep him still now that he is freed from the lampshade. |

Yea so everything was great with the onesie until Bailey peed in it... Now to give him a wipe down and try again. Anyone have experience with cutting holes in the onesie to accomodate? |
Tucker was neutered on Monday. I made him stay on the couch with me, if he started to get restless, I would make him go in his crate. That way he had to be still. It was sad, but at least he was doing what the vet had ordered. I didn't try the onsie, but Tucker didn't mess with his stitches at all. If he had, I would have done that ( I think it's a great idea) Also, if you are concerned about his stitches, I would def. call the vet. I think that after surgery, you can never be too careful. |

I only put the onesie on him to sleep in so I didn't have to worry about him peeing in it. During the day I just kept my eye on him. He likes the onesie so much he wears it to bed still even though he's healed up already. |
