Do Yorkies get pimples? Layla has a red bump under her chin. i dont' know if it is pimple or she scratched it but it's round so i'd guess a pimple.. it has a small scab on it.. .is there anything i can do to make it heal quicker? layla scratches under her chin a lot and i'm worried if she keeps doing that it won't get better. thoughts? |
Could it be a flea, ant or mesquito bite? my girls have had ant bites that look like little pimples. if Layla had her face in the grass, a little ant could have crawled up there and bit her:( . I hope she is ok! I know the ants here in Texas give a fierce bite and they hurt/itch at the same time. I put a little Q-tip with bleach on there and dab it and that takes the sting out. i then wash it off so they won't get the bleach if they lick it.:p I wouldn't recommend that if it was on her face tho. |
Yeah, they can - Wylie had a big 'ol "thang" under his chin - pretty close to his lip - and it was pretty big (about 1.5 years ago) and I freaked out! Took him in, doctor said they can pimples - but he actually said Wylie's was a either a little cyst or a little wart (ew) - and said to just watch it. He said it would probably just go down on its own and if it didn't, it could be removed. You could put aloe on it, hydrocortisone cream, and/or antibiotic cream (which would be good esp. if she itches the area, as it would prevent infection if she breaks the skin). :) |
don't know about dogs, but my 2 cats used to get them. The vet game me some cream and it helped. |

woopsie! Guess it isn't bugs! LOL! :p We are in shorts already:rolleyes: |
My little Lola seems to get the same thing. I only find them occasionally when petting her... tiny little pin-head scabs that don't seem to bother her at all. I've asked the vet about skin allergies, but her coat is in great health and her skin doesn't seem irritated. She's never had fleas, and now that it's winter and I'm still finding the occasional bump/scab, I'm just chalking it up to pimples versus insect bites. So long as my baby's not bothered, I'm not overly concerned. :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa |
Sounds like a hot spot to me. Try rubbing some Nizoral shampoo directly on the spot 2-3 times per day. Use some pressure, it's okay if the scab comes off or it oozes. The point is to dry the sore out. |
Thanks everyone.. it is looking SO much better.. not as swollen as it was! |
I don't really know anything about it but I read there is a such thing as "dog acne." http://www.petplace.com/dogs/acne-in-dogs/page1.aspx |
Yesterday I was playing with my dog (she's a yorkie mix) and I noticed that her belly area was red. I didn't think anything of it because she likes to lay on her tummy with her back legs spread out. I figured it was from the carpet. So about an hour ago I went to play with her and she was being her usual bossy self :animal36 and then all of a sudden she jumped up on the couch and started licking herself down there. Well I thought she was licking her hoo-hoo but it turned out she was licking above it kinda like if her right leg had an inner thigh. I picked her up and had my husband check to see if there was anything there and he said he felt something so I took her to a lighted area and sure enough there's this big pimple bump thingy there. It's about 1/4 inch wide, all white. I'm making an appointment first thing in the morning. When we first got her last year, she had them hot spots and the vet said it was fine, just staph that puppies got. he gave her antibiotics and they went away... hopefully that's all she needs. I put her cone on her from when she was fixed. She's trying like crazy to get it off of her LOL. |
