Raw eggs?
 
Tumi and Gracie are on NV raw and i was told by someone that it is okay to give them a raw egg once a week..I am not sure about the raw egg thing so i need advice. Thanks guys!:)

I don't know about yorkies but my German Shepards used to eat every once in a while raw eggs and not once they've had a problem...

I wouldn't because of Samonella but that's just me.:)

Fresh eggs don't have salmonella... And all farms near my grandpa's have eggs stolen and eaten by dogs and not one have ever died because of it...;)

I just found this ....

Raw egg whites contain a protein called avidin, which can deplete your dog of biotin, one of the B vitamins. Biotin is essential to your dog’s growth and coat health. The lack of it can cause hair loss, weakness, growth retardation, or skeleton deformity. Raw egg yolks contain enough biotin to prevent the deficiency, so this is not a problem with raw whole eggs. Raw egg yolks could contain salmonella, so you should get your eggs from a reliable source or cook the eggs.

If given with a balanced diet, an egg once in a while won't hurt the dog at all. Mine get an egg every week or two. Well, they split an egg cause they are so small.:D

First of all, I don't worry about Salmonella with dogs...Healthy dogs don't normally get food-borne illnesses. Dogs lick and eat all kinds of gross things all the time with no problem...they were designed to eat raw meat, bones, and organs (hence the name Carnivore).

Nature's Variety raw medallions have raw eggs in them...take a look at the ingredients: (I picked lamb but they all have eggs)

Lamb, Lamb Liver, Raw Ground Lamb Bone, Lamb Heart, Lamb Kidney, Apples, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Ground Flaxseed, Chicken Eggs, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Salmon Oil, Olive Oil, Blueberries, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Duck Eggs, Pheasant Eggs, Quail Eggs, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove

there is the girl that i need!:D thanks..We are on NV lamb too..i saw the ingredients too and i thought it should be okay..i am just gonna give one egg per week for both..they are tiny so one egg between them should be fine..and yes..talk about them licking everything..:rolleyes:

My little on is on Primal. I gave her an egg with the shell broken up, she loved the egg and licked all the shell pieces to get every bit of egg......but left the shell. I thought this is great! She loves eggs.........little while later found the regurgitated egg on the floor. (lucky I didn't step in it!) I haven't tried another one since.

We have our own chicken coop so my dogs get fresh eggs all the time. They steal them if I am not looking. LOL It has helped with the coat of my lab.
