Carsickness, What Can I Do To Help My Dog? I HAVE A 17 MONTH OLD YORKIE NAMED DUKE. WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER WE USED TO DRIVE AROUND WITH HIM ALL THE TIME BUT LATELY IVE NOTICED THAT HE BEGINS TO DROOL ALOT AND DOESNT LIKE CAR RIDES ANYMORE. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP HIM? HOW DO I KNOW IF ITS CARSICKNESS OR IF HES JUST NERVOUS WHEN IT COMES TO CAR RIDES NOW? |

Welcome to YorkieTalk:) It is hard to say if he is sick or just nervous. My Yorkie gets sick and giving her a ginger snap cookie before we leave (maybe 10 or 15 minutes before) has really helped. I would try that before the vet wants you to use anti-nausea med. |

If he is drooling then I would suspect he is just nervous. Has he had any bad experiences lately, like trips to the vet or trips to the groomer that could have stressed him out? |

Nervousness Not That I Know Of. Hes Never Really Been Sick To Go To The Vet. Hes Just Gone For His Shots And Check Ups. And The Groomer Comes To Our House To Groom Him. I Did Notice That One Of The Times He Got Groomed They Cut His Wiskers And Since Then He Started With The Nervousness. Even When I Reach My Hand Out To Touch Him He Is A Little Hesitant But Then He Comes Around. Could That Have Done Anything Bad To Him? What Can I Do To Help Calm Him Down? |

Where Do I Get The Ginger Snap Cookies? |

When did he last go to the vets for shots and what shots did he have. I have read that nervousness is a side effect of vaccinations. |

The Last Time Was For His One Year Vaccinations. I Dont Know Which Ones They Were Though. My Roommate Has The Paperwork. He Used To Be Her Dog And She Couldnt Have Him At Her House So She Gave Him To Me. Ive Had Him Since November. |

my dog gets anxious in the car too. He is nervous thou and I tried to get the console car seat for him so that way he is a little bit closer to me. It helped a little. So I am considering getting the ginger snap cookies too. |

You should be able to find them at any grocery store. Usually drooling is followed by vomiting if they are nauseous though, so I wonder if it is nervousness. |

Oh Ya Hes Done That A Few Times. He Doesnt Do It All The Time Though. |
