Indoor pest control? I am so embarrassed, but we have a roach problem. I have cleaned and cleaned EVERYTHING many times over. We seal food up tightly and wash dishes as soon as possible, but I still see a roach every so often. I know that means there are many more, and it just grosses me out. :( Pre-Gizmo, I would have just called a pest control company and had them come spray or set off an insecticide bomb, etc... But I know how harmful those chemicals can be for Gizmo. So, what should I do?? |
Call them and talk to them anyway! some have stuff that pets can be around in a few hours! They can be carried in on boxes, sacks, from grocery stores! I think the eggs of the bugs can be carried in on your shoes, and so many things! They are hard to get rid of! You should see the wood roaches, they are big! thats why no wood for my fireplace comes in and lays in my house-it goes in the fireplace, which i use a lot!! I have seen out in the wood- even as cold as it has been!! Also check out a product called "Home pest" check it out because it has been years since i got it for a flea problem!! so I am not sure it has changed!!! |

Judy, I have heard that you can use boric acid (it's a white powder you can get at the pharmacy). You can get an empty squirt bottle like a ketchup server (plastic bottle with the pointed spout that you squeeze) you can spray it into all the cracks and crevices, where Gizmo can't reach, and it is supposed to kill roaches. I have personally never tried it, but it couldn't hurt to check it out. Hope this helps. Here's a link I found: http://www.mouthstick.net/tipsbits/boric.htm |

I hesitate to believe what the pest control companies say is safe. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I just don't know if I can believe them. |
If you are battling the big wood roaches then you would need to treat outside around the house too. We have them here and they get in the house. The best thing to kill them is Combat Roach Killing Jel. You can put some of the jell in high places and crevices where the dogs can't get to it and when the roaches eat it they die. It is a constant battle out here in the country. Good luck. |
