Eye Allergies? Hi, my little feller, Boudreaux, will be 4 months old the 8th of this month. Every since he came home from the breeders he has been having really watery eyes. As this is my first yorkie I thought maybe it was just the breed. Now I believe that he may have eye allergies. It's clear and he doesn't seem to wipe at his eyes or it doesn't appear to bother him. The area under his little eyes just stay wet all the time. Well, except while he is sleeping. He'll wake up in the mornings with a totally dry face. I've bought some tear stain remover from Petco, but it didn't help. I'm always wiping his eyes with a soft clothe or cotton ball in an attempt to dry him up a little, but it's not working. Just driving him crazy! Anyone have any suggestions on something I could try? Thanks |
Hi there,I have the same thing going on with my new yorkie. I'm going back to the vet with again this week. she also has some blood in her stool.Well good luck to you! ..............Tim:animal-pa |
Penny is like that too. I was told it is normal with this breed. Penny went to the vet last week and she is healthy. I just wipe her face with a warm rag to clean her face. But thats jmo and what I was told. If I am wrong someone let me know.:D :aimeeyork :animal36 :animal-pa |
The FIRST thing you want to look at is, what are you feeding? :) |
I feed Canidae to all my pups. And since i switched from the alpo that the breeder was feeding, her eyes are still really wet. |

I recently switched to Canidae I recently switched my harley to canidae. I recommended it to my friends who switched to it. She has a lab with watery eyes and now the labs eyes are clear... So maybe it will help yours... Good luck |
I started him out on Purina Puppy Chow, but switched to IAMS. (heard somewhere that it was suppose to be better for him) I'd been getting it moist before feeding him until I read a few days ago that it's not good for his teeth. He seems to like it better dry. I don't feel that it is his food as he has been like this from the day that I brought him home. |
He may have been that way since you got him, but he also has been eating not so great food since he has been born. I would try switching him to a premium food, like Canidae (www.canidae.com) to see if that would help. I would also not give him tap water. Use filtered or bottled water. This really helps with the tear stains. I use to think that Iams was the best food out there until I got on a website called Dogster and found out alot about dog food and the really bad ingredients in most store bought foods. Good luck!! |
