New member...have a question about bad breath I have an adorable 6 month old name Milly. She's in the process of losing her teeth. I've only found two, and I know that there are several loss teeth. Here's my question. Has anyone ever noticed really bad breath? I've given her those greenies, but they don't seem work for her right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:animal-pa |
Don't have any ideas but wanted to welcome you to YT. |
:) Hi, and welcome to YT! The bad breath could be because she has some teeth that are loose, but not quite out yet. I know that I called Scooter "Death Breath" for awhile there. Once I found the loose tooth and got it out though...immediately, no problem. Also, this breed is prone to double sets of teeth (baby teeth that don't come out on their own.) Most people wait until they are having their baby spayed or neutered and have the vet remove the extra teeth then. It's important to have them removed, because they can trap food debris and cause major dental problems, resulting in overall health problems. Hopes this helps. Others may have additional ideas for you! Welcome!:D |
When we picked up our first Yorkie from what I now know was a puppy mill, she smelled like a sewer. Stopped at a vet on the way home. Found she had a double set of teeth that were infected. It was horrible.:( :( :( The lady is still in business. But then this is KS. |
Hi and welcome to YT! :welcome4: |
And, of course, welcome to YT. It is a wonderful place to come and find answers to questions as you raise your little furbaby.:D |
welcome! if you do a search for "bad breath" or "teething" on this board you will get tons of helpful info...when dexter was teething i seriously thought i was going to die from the smell and was sooo worried something was wrong, but apparantly it is normal for them to stink it up for a while when the teeth fall out. i think it was about 3 weeks and his breath is now totally back to puppy fresh!! |
Welcome to YT. They all go through that. It really smells like something died in their mouths. The only thing you can really do is to brush those teeth and give her lots of crunchy things to loosen up the teeth. |
Thank you! |
Thank you... I had talked to my vet about getting her baby teeth pulled when I take Milly to get spayed. Some of her adult teeth are starting to come in next to the baby teeth. I have read about the possible dental problems when the adult teeth come in, but the baby teeth don't fall out. Thanks for the info! |
Oh, that's sad, I hope your pup is doing much better now! |
Thank you! |
I did try a search, but it came up that there were no postings for "bad breath," which I thought was odd. I didn't think to search "teething." I even tried halitosis, because it's that bad. Thanks for your information. Wow, three weeks of bad breath...what can you do!? I did find two teeth on the floor this morning, so hopefully more of her teeth will fall out soon! Thanks again for your help! |
Thank you! I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't anything more serious than just loose teeth. Most of her chewies and dolls have little blood stains from her chewing. Thanks again! |
