Anyone have their baby on a vegetarian diet? If so what brand or recipe if you home cook. tks! |
I don't do it, but I suppose it's possible. Is your dog unable to have meat? I just would really proceed w/ caution. I can't stress highly enough the need to consult a pet nutritionist if you really want to go that route - otherwise, you might put your baby in danger. Not to say it can't be done, but you'd really have to do some protein calculating, amino acid tracking, and probably some volumetric type stuff too. :) |
Your dog has allergies, right? What are the ingredients in his/her diet? |
well... dogs aren't meant to be vegitarians... i'm sure it's possible... are their allergy issues that you need help with? where in Ontario are you?? we are near London |
Is there a medical reason that your dog needs to be a vegetarian? Liver compromised dogs are usually vegetarians, and they can more than definitely do well on this type of diet. My yorkie has thrived on a vegetarian diet whereas a meat based diet was killing him because of his liver condition. If your baby is healthy, then Dr. Pitcairn has a few vegetarian recipes in his book that you might try, but I wouldn't recommend them for a liver compromised dog. |
Dogs are carnivores and are meant to eat meat, bones and organs. They were not designed to eat veggies, fruits, and grains. I believe in feeding a species the diet they were designed to eat. You wouldn't feed a cow (herbivore) meat so you shouldn't be feeding a dog (carnivore) veggies and grains. |
