Getting teeth pulled? My little Mocha is at the vet's today to get neutered and I'm worried sick :( He's so tiny, I hope he does ok. He also has some baby teeth that might need to be pulled. They're going to check them out when he's under and give me a call to see what I wanna do. It would be an extra $100 to get his teeth pulled, which would bring the entire cost (neuter, bloodwork, microchip, teeth) to $413  How much did most of you spend on the whole shabang? Do you think it's necessary to have his teeth pulled, or can I just wait until they fall out on their own? I've felt his teeth and they are loose, but just not coming out yet. They're going to be calling me with updates throughout the day, so I'm pretty much going to be glued to my phone all day :o |
I would go ahead and get them pulled because they can cause a lot of problems. And, if they do not get pulled now, they might not fall out on their own...then he will have to be put under anesthesia again to get it done. As far as cost...every area is different...like the cost of living is different. That would be a little high for middle Georgia where I live...but normal or less expensive for other areas. Good luck, little Mocha! Let us know how he does! |
I would definately get them pulled. If they don't fall out, he will have to go back under... It costs $85 for a spay here (low cost deal) and $20 for the pain meds and $20 for the e-collar. The spaying includes Isoflurane, monitoring and an IV. Then there is bloodwork which runs about $100. Microchipping is $49 here. |
I would definitely get them pulled now. Teddi had to go once to get spayed and then a few months later had to be put under again to get her teeth pulled. It will definitely cost less if you do it together because you have to pay a lot every time they put them under and the less times you have to do it the better. |
Hi when I got Logan fixed - it cost me $10 a tooth... :D Definitly I would have them pull out, my vet told me that they wouldn't never fell off... |
I would get them pulled now |
Yes! You want to have the baby teeth pulled! Food gets trapped and then comes odor and decay. You will have much less problems. Bella is 220 to spay and she managed to lose the last of the baby teeth this week when she went for her blood draw. They were holding her so tight the tooth popped out! |
I had lilys back baby teeth pulled when she was spayed and it was 410$ but to do the teeth was only 55$. They left 4 front baby teeth because the vet thought they would fall out well they never did and now after she recuperates from her lp surgery she has to go back in and have them pulled, poor baby. I would definitely have them all done now, more than likely if they have not fallen out by 6 months they will not fall out and if left in they can cause many problems. |
Yep, get them pulled. Chewy went yesterday for a teeth cleaning and had one last baby tooth to get pulled... His was 349.00. His baby teeth were pulled when he was neutered, but one last one grew in and never fell out. Make sure you brush your babies teeth every day... the cleanings are a lot of money and no fun for your baby to go through.:( |
Ditto on what everyone has said, go ahead and get them pulled. Lily had 10 baby teeth pulled when she was spayed. The cost was $110 for the teeth to come out, but it was worth it to not have to put her under anesthesia twice!::) |
I just did the same thing for Jambo a few weeks ago. I decided to get his left over baby teeth pulled rather than waiting and having to put him under again later. I paid $462 for neutering ($168), 5 teeth extractions ($20/tooth), pre-op bloodwork ($86), exam ($54 they supposedly did one before the surgery), pain meds (3 tablets @$20). No e-collar, they put sutures inside and glue sutured on the outside. I wanted to microchip as well ($60) but the vet used a chip (Crystal Tag) that no one on YT knew about so I am getting that done elsewhere. |
Thank you for all your thoughts, everyone :) Mocha is home with me now and he's recuperating. He's been so tired/sleepy/calm...it's a nice change lol. He ended up getting his baby teeth removed for free! They were loose enough to fall out easily and didn't require major extraction, so there was no charge :D BTW, can somebody tell me if it's normal if they don't go pee or poop after the surgery? The vet staff told me they tried to get him to go potty but he wouldn't go, and he hasn't gone at all since he's been home (it's been 3 hours since I've taken him home) |
I just took Teddy in last friday he got neutered 3 teeth pulled and micro chipped and it cost me $162.00 so I think I got off cheap here. But it is definitely worth getting them pulled rather than wait and see if they fall out if they don't fall out them he will have to go under again later. |
Our vet charges like $65 to pull teeth.. spay/neuter is usually around the same.. but b/c star was soooooooooooooooooo little they charged me extra! $100.. 80 for the spay and 20 for meds |

I would want him to pee by morning and poop by maybe Saturday morning otherwise I'd call the vet. |
