ooozing from the penis Hi guys... I didn't want to post this on sick and injured cause I didn't know if this is at all a prob. I noticed last week and today that there may have been some tiny bit of oozing from Pucci's penis. Not sure if this is just some urine that caked on the hairs (tiny bit) although I never saw this before, he is now eight, I don't know if this could be something other or if it is comon and I just never noticed. Anyone? Tina |
Oh gosh I don't know. Perhaps an infection? Has he been having any trouble using the bathroom? |
No he has been fine...I noticed him licking one day last week which I don't see too often but no licking this week. Maybe that is what made me notice. I am hoping it is nothing. Tina |
I'm not an expert, but I think that is normal. |
I would say it's possible that he could have gotten an infection from the urine on the hair, or from outside. I would definately take him to the vet and have it checked out, just to make sure! Wanted to add, if he hasn't been neutered it would be more common as he could be leaking semen. (gross, but my bulldog did it) If he has, I would definately take him in. |
I would call your vet and talk over the phone to him/her and see if they feel it's something that needs a vet visit. I hope he's okay! |
Hope he is ok but I would trim the hair all the way down ... That helps tremendously.... I would observe a day call vet and also check back here for more advice.... Ive not gone through it but what I have read they say cut all the hair off in that area reduces the chance of any infection.. Hope everything is ok Vicki |
yes this is my busy season so their grooming get a litle behind. his hairs are not very long but I could trim a litlle more at this time. I am going to keep a close watch this week to see if he is doing any thing looks strange. will check for other responses and will let you know if i need to call the vet. tina |
Is he neutured?? I have a reason for asking. |
Mozart has a problem there too We have noticed for the last few years that Mozart does a lot of licking in that area. He is 10 years old. He is neutered and has been since he was very young. Nothing changed, but one day the licking started. He licks so much that he rolls the penis sheath back. It has become a daily problem probably stemming from dryness in the area. The vet says that it needs we need to keep it lubricated, but he just licks it off. Are you sure that yours isn't just licking because of dryness? We need to invert it daily. Does anyone else have this problem with a male yorkie? |
hi.....yes Pucci is neutered. he is not licking every day I had just noticed him licking one day last week which is not usual for him. but I think it is because of noticing him that day i then began to notice the little bit of dry ooze that I saw on the hair near the top of the penis and a wee bit of dry ooze on th top of the penis. the dry ooze tha i see is daily now and very small amounts. but I never noticed it before and would probably would have if it were there before. not that I examine him throughly every day but esp during the winter when I dress him to go out doors he is at times on his back so that is when I would notice this. i called the vet today they said it is probably normal but they would like to see him to confirm. so I am hoping it is nothing. thanks for asking. Tina |
people were asking if he was neutered because intact males leak smegma from their penis. if you ever pick up a intact male and hold him against you you'll know what i'm talking about. Bring a urine sample to the vet so they can test for a UTI. Is he drinking or urinating more frequently? this is also a sign of a UTI. |
no he is not doing anything different......I really hope he is ok. Tina |
Hi guys..... Just a mini update....I am taking Pucci to the vet on Wednesday afternoon. Although what I was describing seems to have cleared up:hands: I just want to talk with his vet anyway just in case. Will update you when we get back....please say a little prayer for Pucci that all is ok. Thanks to all;) Tina |
