Where to get Origen Six Fix? Hi folks! I haven't posted in ages upon ages... Our little fur babies are still the highlight of our home. We now have 3.... :) One for each of us! I'll have to see about getting some pictures posted. Here's my trouble for today... Josie is doing absolutely horrible with itchiness! I've done everything I can. The vet gave us cortisone (or maybe it was pred), but she is blowing up like a blimp on it and I hate to think of the side effects of medications, etc, etc. And anyhow it's not working anymore either. I'm pulling out more hair than she is at this point. I've done a good deal of research (this site is as FANTASTIC as ever!).... I'd like to change to Orijen Six Fish at first to get her over the hump, but I can't find it. We are in rural northern MI and my nearest city (an hour away) doesn't have the food. I searched online and they are out of stock. So where are you all getting your Orijen Six Fish? I can get Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Fish, but I really want the higher fish content right now. Any help would be appreciated! Smiles to all! |
http://www.championpetfoods.com/orijen/storeLocator/ You can try contacting a store and asking them to ship it to you, or ask your store to special order it if they can. |
I get mine from a local feed store. |
Is Orijen a good yorkie food? Which one has tiny kibble? Which one do all of you buy? |

Ack! I meant to link you TO the 6-Fish, I don't know what happened. Here it is, but it looks like all they have is the trial size, like you mention - what is up with that: http://www.k9cuisine.com/p-51-orijen...egetables.aspx |
You could also get the NatBal and just cook some white fish, toss it in. :) |
One more thing - are you all getting your salmon oil at a health food store? And how much oil are you giving? And how much Vit-E to go with it? Are you just giving the capsules? |

Good news!! I found a store in Washington that had one 15 lb bag left! Thanks a bunch for the salmon oil link... Off to buy more stuff for my baby! (These little charmers are worth millions aren't they?! :) ) |
Happy to help. Just watch her hydration - they can get pretty dang thirsty on the higher protein kibbles. You might even want to sprinkle some water on her kibble...and feed her earlier in the evening so she has more time to drink enough water and pee (enough) before your bedtime. :) |
Is Orijen hight in protein? Maya had a liver shunt, so I don't want to feed her a high protein kibble.......but my 9 year old Scooter has the itchies so bad. He's on meds right now......the vet doesn't think its the food (Royal Canin Yorkie) but I wonder............ |

Just a heads up on Royal Canin.... A lot of people use it with no troubles. We thought we were feeding our dogs a great food. We never questioned that Royal Canin could be the causing our itchy problem. We were wracking our brains trying to figure out what was wrong with our dogs (they all itch, but Josie had gotten out of control). We used to never have itchy problems like we do now. The light bulb moment was when we remembered that we had switched food when we got Josie because she couldn't handle the larger pieces of the food we previously used (Nutro Ultra). That started some research and we found that MANY people have the exact same problem with Royal Canin as we.... The brand has a record of causing allergies. If I were you I'd switch food ASAP..... I can hardly wait for the new food to come. Or the new salmon oil. I'm am so anxious to be done with these itches. Next step will be to go raw. (I sure hope this does the trick... I love the idea of raw, I just don't think I'll be able to stick it out with my work schedule. I barely have time to feed myself! LOL!) Have a good evening! |
