Does anyone else's babie eat grass? Both Mozart and Emmy seem to like to eat grass. It is very strange. We do not leave them in the back yard alone, so we monitor what they are doing. Mozart is 10 years old and has always eaten grass from time to time. We do not let him do it, but he tries in the yard or on walks. Now Emmy who is 1 year old is also eating grass. We do not know if she is just doing what he is doing. We are baffled. They both eat only dog food that the vet recommends for sensitive stomachs called EN by Purina. It just doesn't make sense. Anyone else run into this issue? |
Mine used to..and then end up throwing up after, grass and all. I never learned why that happened but it stopped. |

Yes, Gizmo will eat grass, and wood chips, and mulch, and toilet paper, and shoes...:rolleyes: You have to keep your eyes on them. LOL! |
Mine graze all the time.. just like little cows. Mike likes to say, they like the tender little shoots. lol BUT I have to watch them closely. Beamer had the runs for a couple of days and I discovered it was because the gardeners had sprayed the lawn for ants.. they were already coming out because of the warm weather. And I caught Beamer eating the grass, so I think the ant killer made him sick. Thank goodness he didn't get too much of it, the lawn sprinklers came on the day after they sprayed. |
Yes mine do too --- actually Archie does much more than Willie. Sometimes Archie will throw up a bit after eating grass but usually not. They also sometimes like to eat lettuce or spinach. But their real favorite thing to graze on is catnip. |
I was always told that if they had an upset stomach, the eating of grass helps them throw up to ease the tummy ache. I don't know if that's true or not. |

I actually bought a pot of wheatgrass from the pet store intended to be given to dogs. I have heard that it is good for digestion. Jambo actually tried to pull the plant to his sofa and the soil went everywhere so I just blended the whole thing and he loves it as a refreshing snack. I give get him the wheat grass from Jamba Juice when I go there to get myself a smoothie. |
