So confused about dog food! 1 Attachment(s) Ok Kramer is 4 mos. old, i need feedback please. I was giving him Royal canine, he wasn't crazy about it, then i heard about life's abundance, all natural, good for them, so i want to give my dog the best of course so i switch. Again, he eats some but never gobbles it up or looks like he loves it. I do mix in wet food, which that he enjoys and helps him eat the dry food better, but i started noticing some loose stools when i give him the natural choice canned food  , could he be having a reaction to that particular canned food, what do you guys reccommend i give him in canned food to mix with his dry food. What do your dogs like? I am spending a small fortune on dog food, i have acuired quite a collection. So pleas tell me your little furry friend's favorite. |
Well i home cook for Layla. And even then she doesn't gobble it up... so dont' worry if he doesn't seem interested... it just might be picky and wants to eat slower.... when i do have to feed her kibble she gets Wellness which she seems to enjoy! |
One of mine has a very sensitive tummy and has loose stools (or worse) when she eats a food that doesn't agree with her. She tends to have the problem mostly with the holistic brands. :( I found a very good (IMO) food that is formulated for sensitive tummies that works well for her. The problem you are describing doesn't seem to be all that uncommon for Yorkies, unfortunately. Just hang in there and keep trying--you'll find what is right for her. |
My three also eat Life's Abundance. I tried Chicken Soup, Canidae and homecooking before I finally found a food that they all like and that doesn't cause them to have soft stools. I too mix in a little wet food for moisture and variety - either homecooking, Spot's Stew or Newman's Organic canned. |
Ellie's favorite is homecooked. She eats anything though.:) Canned food does cause loos stools in some dogs. If you want him to love his food, then you will have to keep switching. If you want to make him eat it, then just offer it for a couple days and see how he does. Make sure he isn't going into hypoglycemia though. I prefer that (within reason) dogs enjoy their food and if they don't I would find another one. There are just some dogs like Layla though that for some reason get the tastiest food and don't love to eat all the time. |

Ellie was throwing up once about 8 times in one day). I found out later it was pancreatitis. I had pulled her food but she wanted to eat like normal. |
