help w. my lil Romeo I have a 5 month old Yorkie and he always seems hungry.. or at least hes always licking everything and trying to eat everything... He doesnt bite, but licks literally everything.... We feed him 2.5 table spoons of royal canine for indoor puppies... Any suggestions??? |
I feed 1/3 a cup 2 to 3 times a day |
how old is your yorkie? |
2.5 tablespoons per day does not seem like enough food for a puppy. Usually they lick weird things when they're not getting certain vitamins/minerals/nutrients. Did you read the back of the bag to see what the recommendations are? |
Are you going by the directions on the bag? Did you talk to your vet about this? Are you feeding 2.5 tablespoons once per day or a few times a day? This doesn't seem like enough at all. I'd say the lil guy is more than likely hungry. I started Maggy May out on a feeding schedual when I got her, but then she had so many health issues and I wanted to makes sure she was getting enough to eat whenever she wanted it. I talked to my vet and asked if it would be ok to free feed her and he actually suggested it because of all her issues. He said just watch her and makes sure she IS eating and NOT gorging out on her food which would cause her to vomit. Free feeding works great for her, perhaps your lil one would do ok with free feeding as well? Just a thought. Seriously though, if you're only feeding 2.5 tablespoons once per day, that doesn't sound right to me, I'd definately feed more. |

welcome to YT. How big is your puppy? You need to feed him according to his weight - he needs to get enough to grow and be healthy on the inside. I would also investigate some higher quality foods - such as Innova, Artemis or Wellness. Can we see pictures ;) |
